Titans take advantage at line to down Stout

MENOMONIE (February 5, 2011) - In a game that featured 50 total personal fouls, UW-Oshkosh took advantage at the free throw line and defeated UW-Stout, 72-65, Saturday.

The Titans connected on 28-of-43 attempts, while Stout made 13-of-20 chartiy shots.

Stout led by three points, 36-33, at halftime, but moved past the Blue Devils in the second half.

Stout jumped out to a six point, 41-35 lead two minutes into the second half, but the Titans caught up and took the lead, 42-41 at 15:20. Stout captured the lead back moments later, but the Titans went off on an 8-0 spurt to take a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the night. Stout did pull to within five points with about a minute left, but made five of six free throws down the stretch.

John Flanigan scored 24 points for the Titans to lead all players. TJ Kellner had 13 points and Cory Wittwer contributed 11.

Jerrod Buchholtz (Sr, Durand) finished with 22 points to lead Stout. Buchholtz scored 14 points in the first half, including two 3-pointers in the first two minutes of the game. Eric Hostetter (Sr, Stillwater, Minn) added 14 points and Erik Olson (So, Buffalo, Minn) contributed 11.

Stout will host UW-Superior, Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 7 p.m., then will be at UW-Platteville Saturday, Feb. 12.
