Strong second half by Hostetter powers Stout

UW-Stout 85, UW-Superior 77

SUPERIOR (February 10, 2010) - Eric Hostetter (Jr, Stillwater, Minn) scored 21 points in the second half to help UW-Stout erase a halftime deficit and power the Blue Devils to an 85-77 win at UW-Superior Wednesday.

Hostetter finished with 23 points and racked up his first double-double of the season by pulling down 10 rebounds. Hostetter was 8-for-13 from the floor, with two 3-point baskets and 5-of-7 from the free throw line.

Jerrel Enerson-Matthews (Sr, Anoka, Minn) scored 15 points and Mahlon Thomas (Jr, Brooklyn Park, Minn) recorded a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

The win keeps Stout (13-9, 8-6) in third place in the WIAC, two-and-a-half games behind UW-Stevens Point and UW-Whitewater, which are tied for first.

The Yellowjackets (13-9, 6-7) had four players in double figures, led by Dan Culy with 23. Ben Aalfs had 16 points, Jake Smith 15 and Marcus Helland 14. Helland had 11 rebounds.

Stout will be at UW-Platteville, Saturday, Feb. 13.
