MENOMONIE  (February 4, 2009) - UW-Stout played third ranked UW-Stevens Point relatively even in the second half, but the Pointers had taken a 41-33 lead into halftime and carried that lead throughout the second half on their way to a 73-64 win over the Blue Devils Wednesday at Johnson Fieldhouse.

The Pointers (18-2, 11-0) got 22 points from Louis Hurd, 15 in the first half, to lead the way. Matt Moses, who scored 32 against Stout the last time out, finished the night with 18 points. Khalifa El-Amin added 10 points.

Jerrel Enerson-Matthews (Jr, Anoka, Minn) led Stout (7-13, 1-10) with 17 points and Eric Hostetter (So, Stillwater, Minn) had 15 points.

After Stout tied the score at 19-19 midway through the first half, the Pointers went on a 9-0 run for 28-19 lead with eight minutes left on the clock. Stout did cut the lead to as little as six points, but that was as close as the game would get.

The Pointers, the conference's leading 3-point shooting team, drained 8-of-17 three-pointers in the first half and finished the game hitting 12-of-27. Stout was 5-for-16 from 3-point range. The Pointers shot 50 percent (25-50) from the floor, while Stout was 45.1 percent (23-51). The Pointers outrebounded Stout, the conference's leading rebounding team, 31-24.

Stout will be at UW-Whitewater, Saturday, Feb. 7, then will go to UW-Superior, Wednesday, Feb. 11
