JANESVILLE — The University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic men's golf team opened the 2026 season with a first-place finish at the Culver's Edgewood University Fall Invitational, posting a two-round total of 559 at Glen Erin Golf Course.
The Blue Devils tied a program record in the opening round, shooting a 282. Stout then set a new program record in the second round with a 277, breaking the previous record by five strokes.
Andrew Bauer led the Blue Devils with a first-place individual finish, shooting a 4-under-par 138. Cameron Lipinski and Ayrton Longe tied for second at 3-under 139, while Casey Peters tied for fourth at 1-under 141. Nick Buckman shot a 145 to tie for 14th and Owen Kuepper tied for 20th with a 147.
Bauer's performance was highlighted by an opening-round 72 followed by a 5-under-par 66 in the second round. Lipinski recorded rounds of 68 and 71, while Longe carded rounds of 69 and 70. Peters contributed rounds of 69 and 72.
"I hit the ball really solid all tournament. I hit 16 out of 18 greens in regulation, so I was pretty happy with how I hit the ball, used that momentum going into day two, and then got lucky and made some putts," Bauer said.
Stout's B team placed seventh with a score of 589. Peters led the B team, tying for fourth individually with a 141. Nick Buckman shot a 145 to finish 11th, while Connor Lingen carded a 147 to place 20th. Cade Nottlestad tied for 44th with a 151, Logan Stoll was a shot back at 152, and Tegan Stiehl finished with a 155.
The Blue Devils will travel to the AU DoubleGun Invite Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Aurora Country Club in Aurora, Ill.
