Menomonie, WI – The University of Wisconsin – Stout Esports teams have been busy this season. With five of our teams traveling for Championship tournaments within the State of Wisconsin!
Overwatch 2 – The Blue Devils Overwatch 2 team qualified for the Wisconsin Esports Conference (WEC) Spring Championship hosted by Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) on May 2
nd and 3
rd.
The Blue Devils came into the tournament as the #1 seed, 13-0 undefeated season. Starting on Saturday, May 2
nd the Blue Devils competed against Carthage College and Lawrence University. The Blue Devils fell to Carthage 2-3 and beat Lawrence 3-0 to earn the #4 seed for the Championship Bracket on Sunday where they would face off against UW-Milwaukee in the Quarter-Finals.
The Blue Devils started strong with a 3-0 victory over Milwaukee to earn a spot in the Semi-Finals against the host school and #1 seed MSOE. The games were close, forcing overtime in two games, but the Blue Devils ended up losing 0-3, earning a 3
rd/4
th place finish in the WEC Spring Championship.
They ended their season 15-2.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate – The Stout SSBU team qualified for the Spring Championship through the Last Chance Qualifier, earning a wild card seed of #6 going into the WEC Championship.
Saturday matches were played against, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Whitewater, and UW-Green Bay.
The Blue Devils beat Stevens Point, 2-1, lost 0-2 to Whitewater and defeated Green Bay 2-0, earning them the #4 seed for the Championship Bracket on Sunday against the #5 seed, MSOE.
In the end, the Blue Devils couldn't overcome their Quarter-Final match against MSOE falling out of the tournament 5
th-8
th place.
They ended their WEC season with a 12-6 overall record, with 3 of those losses coming from the WEC Champions, UW-River Falls.

WEC Marvel Rivals – The Wisconsin Esports Conference put together a tournament for the new game title, Marvel Rivals during the month of April.
The Blue Devils went 4-0, undefeated in the group stage to earn the #1 seed for the Playoff Bracket beating Milwaukee Area Technical College, UW-Green Bay JV, Carroll University, and UW-River Falls.
The Blue Devils stayed undefeated during this playoff bracket, without dropping a single map to UW-River Falls JV, MSOE and UW-Green Bay to take the WEC Championship!
NECC Marvel Rivals – The Blue Devils also competed in the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) Marvel Rivals Tournament.
They qualified through the first round of open brackets earning them a top 4 seed in the nation! Only dropping 1 series to St. Johns University.

The Blue Devils went 3-0 in their group stage beating St. Thomas, CSU Sacramento, and UT Dallas, earning the #1 seed in the Nation, where we would face off against our rival, St. Johns.
The series was a thriller, going all the way into map 5, where the Blue Devils came up just short. Earning a top 5 National Finish in NECC Marvel Rivals.

Rocket League JV – The Wisconsin Collegiate Rocket League (WCRL) State Championship was held at Carthage College in Kenosha, WI on April 26
th.
Rocket League JV came in as the 9 seed, the lowest in the tournament. The Blue Devils start their run with a 3-0 win over Waukesha County Tech JV, moving up to face the #1 seed, UW-La Crosse, where they fell 1-3 to the lower bracket.
In the lower bracket, the Blue Devils JV face off against #5 UW-Whitewater Black. We won that series 3-0, and then won again 3-0 against #3 UW-Whitewater Purple to earn a spot in the top 4 in WCRL.
A rematch against #1 UW-La Crosse knocked them out for a 4
th place finish.

Rocket League Varsity – The Varsity team also competed in the WCRL State Championships! The Rocket League team came into the tournament undefeated, earning the #2 seed overall.
In the first round, they fell to a strong UW-Eau Claire team 2-3. From the lower bracket, the Blue Devils went on to defeat MSOE, UW-Milwaukee, WCTC Varsity, UW-Eau Claire, and Carthage to fight all the way back to the Grand Finals where they would face Edgewood College.
The Blue Devils battled all the way to game 7, but fell in overtime to place 2
nd overall in WCRL.

Valorant – The Wisconsin Valorant (WVAL) conference also hosted a State Championship on the weekend of April 26
th-27
th at the UW-Milwaukee.
The Blue Devils first round against Concordia University would prove to be a good challenge to start the tournament, but the Blue Devils came out on top, ready to face the hosts, and #1 seed UW-Milwaukee. The Blue Devils battled in that series, but stayed consistent, beating UW-Milwaukee to go straight into the Semi-Finals against UW-Madison for a spot in the Championship!
Once again, the Blue Devils played strong, winning, and sending them to their third straight Grand Finals in the state of Wisconsin. This time, another rematch against UW-Madison, but they couldn't come up with the win the 2
nd time, earning 2
nd place in WVAL.
