MENOMONIE, Wis. – The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) announced its postseason awards, and five members of the UW-Stout women's basketball team received recognition for their outstanding performances during the 2024 season.
Sorensen, Mutch, Giesen Named to All-WIAC Team
Raegan Sorensen, Anna Mutch, and Amanda Giesen earned spots on the prestigious All-WIAC team after stellar seasons leading the Blue Devils.
Sorensen capped off a historic career by moving into second place on UW-Stout's all-time scoring list with 1,627 points. She also holds the program record for highest career points per game, averaging 15.9, and led the WIAC in field goal percentage this season. Sorensen averaged 16.7 points per game while pulling down six rebounds per contest, ranking fifth all-time in program history with 697 career rebounds.
Mutch also made her mark in the record books, finishing fifth all-time in career points at UW-Stout with 1,372. She averaged 13 points per game this season and climbed to eighth in career rebounds with 634.
Giesen continued her strong career, ranking sixth in career scoring at UW-Stout with 1,272 points. She posted a 12.2 points per game average this season while tallying 522 career rebounds, placing her 13th in program history.
Wagner Earns Honorable Mention, Sets WIAC Record
Lexi Wagner was recognized as an honorable mention selection after an outstanding shooting season. Wagner was one of the premier 3-point shooters in the nation, leading the WIAC with a 48.8% shooting mark from beyond the arc. She averaged 12.9 points per game and set a WIAC single-game record by knocking down nine three-pointers (9-of-14) against UW-Eau Claire on January 22.
Schaeffer Named to All-Defensive and All-Sportsmanship Teams
Sam Schaeffer's defensive prowess earned her a spot on the WIAC All-Defensive Team. She recorded 29 steals and boasted an impressive 3.0 assist-to-turnover ratio, one of the highest in the nation. Schaeffer was also recognized for her leadership and character by being named to the WIAC All-Sportsmanship Team. With one more appearance, she will tie the program record for games played.
The Blue Devils' strong representation on the All-WIAC teams highlights a season full of achievements and historic milestones.
