MENOMONIE - University of Wisconsin Stout Blue Devils Esports teams have started up again for the Spring 2024 season! All varsity teams start NACE Varsity Premier competitions this week, with our academy teams competing in NACE Open Plus starting next week. Varsity Valorant is also competing in Collegiate Valorant (CVAL) Winter season!
Valorant:
Collegiate Valorant Winter:
2-0 Win vs Ontario Technical University Purple (1/21)
2-0 Win vs Ontario Technical University Academy (1/27)
0-2 Loss vs St. Clair College (1/28)
2-0 Forfeit Win vs University of Minnesota (2/3)
The Blue Devils move onto the last chance qualifier, where they will rematch St. Clair College to determine the winner of CVAL North Group 3, to move onto the playoffs.
That match will be played at 3 PM on Saturday, February 10
th.
NACE Varsity Premier
2-0 Win vs Lindenwood University (13-7, 13-3)
The Blue Devils also started their NACE Varsity Premier season this week with a matchup against Lindenwood. The Blue Devils got off to a hot start behind
Noah Filtz and
Em Humphrey. Lindenwood clawed back into the game, but the Blue Devils were able to close out the first map with a 13-7 win. The second map of the series was a very similar story to map one. The Blue Devils got off to an early 8-1 lead before dropping another round. Stout closed out the series 2-0 with a 13-3 win in the second map.
Overwatch:
NACE Varsity Premier:
3-0 Win Vs Old Dominion University (2-0, 2-1, 3-2)
The Blue Devils began their season against ODU in week one of NACE Varsity Premier! The Blue Devils struck first in map one to take the early lead. They kept the momentum to close out the first map, 2-0. The Blue Devils played a strong defense, putting a stop to ODU and converting on their offense to win the second map, 2-1. ODU was first to strike on the next map, forcing a great battle between both squads, but it was Blue Devils who came out on top, 3-2 to win the series!
Super Smash Bros:

2-1 Win vs Grand Valley State University (5-0, 0-1, 4-0)
Super Smash Bros Ultimate crew battles started this week for NACE Varsity Premier. The Blue Devils face off against Grand Valley State University (GVSU) in week one. Stout got off to a hot start behind
Ethan Hershberger to earn an early lead in the first set, where the Blue Devils went on to close out a 5-0 win. GVSU fought back in the second set with much closer matchups going all the way to last player, last stock where GVSU came out on top, 0-1. Behind new leadership in
Zach Janot, the Blue Devils rallied in the final set of the best of three to take their first win of the season, 2-1!
Rocket League:
NACE Varsity Premier:
1-3 Loss Vs Central Michigan University (1-3, 1-2, 1-0, 0-3)
Central Michigan got the first two goals of the series to open it up.
Kaiden Rush was the first Blue Devil on the scoreboard to keep us in the game, trailing 1-2. The Blue Devils couldn't do anything else, losing the first game, 1-2. It was Rush again who opened the scoring for the Blue Devils to take an early lead in game two. CMU was able to tie the game to force overtime, where they found the back of the net to get an early 2-0 series lead. The Blue Devils were able to bounce back to win game three of the series! CMU scored the first two goals in game four, which was just enough to close out the series.
