THIS WEEK IN BLUE DEVIL ATHLETICS: Nov. 11-17

FOOTBALL

The Blue Devils upset No. 13 UW-Oshkosh 45-42. Luke Cool hit a walk-off field goal as time expired. 

 Adam Moen accounted for five of the Blue Devils six touchdowns, leading the Blue Devil offense with his arm and with his legs to a 45-42 win over #13 UW-Oshkosh. He was 27-39 (69.2%), tying a career-high in completions for a career-high 352 yards and three touchdowns. (the fifth time this season throwing for 3 or more TDs in a game). He rushed for a career-high 83 yards and two more scores. He was clutch on Stout's game winning 13-play 74-yard drive, going 5-7 for 50 yards and rushing five times for 15 yards to set up the game winning FG.

The Blue Devils will host UW-Platteville on Saturday, Nov. 16. Kick-off from Williams stadium is set for 1:05 p.m. With a win, Stout would claim a share of the WIAC Championship, their first since 2000.

VOLLEYBALL

The Blue Devils topped Hamline in four sets and fell to No. 7 UW-Whitewater. 

Brooke McCune totaled 25 kills in two matches this week. She hit .333 with 14 kills in road win over Hamline. And added 11 kills against No. 7 UWW. She added 14 total digs. 

Terrah Moshier averaged 5.00 digs a set in two matches. She totaled 18 vs Hamline and 17 against No. 7 UWW.  She added 4 assists and three aces. She was .929 in service receptions.

The Blue Devils will compete in the WIAC Tournament for the first time since the 2018 season. Stout will travel to Whitewater, Wis. to face the Warhawks in the first round of the tournament. 

2024 UW-Stout Women's Volleyball vs UW-Whitewater

CROSS COUNTRY

The Blue Devils will compete at the NCAA Division III North Regional on Saturday, Nov. 16. The women will race at 12 p.m. and the men will race at 1 p.m.

The regional championship will take place at the Cowling Arboretum on the Bill Huyck Championship Cross Country Course in Northfield, Minn.

 

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

The Blue Devil women opened the season with a pair of wins at the St. Norbert Tournament. Defeating Calvin 73-41 and St. Scholastica 71-53. 

Lexi Wagner scored 19 points on 7-10 shooting (4-6 3pt) against Calvin. Against St. Scholastica she scored a career-high 25 points on 9-15 shooting (6-10 3pt). For the weekend, she shot 64% (16-25) and 62.5% from 3-point range (10-16) and added six rebounds, four assists and seven steals. She was named MVP of the Tournament. 

Stout will host a pair of games this week. Welcoming Gustavus Adolphus on Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. and Crown College on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m.

ICE HOCKEY

The Blue Devils stayed perfect with two more wins this weekend, topping Saint Mary's 3-2 and Hamline 5-0

Nicolas Pigeon tallied four points (1g, 3a)  He had two assists against Saint Mary's, assisting on the first goal of the game and then again on Stout's game winner. The next night against Hamline. He had a hand in both of the Blue Devils second period goals. Picking up and assist early in the period and then scoring a power play goal a few minutes later. At the faceoff dot, he was 58.3 percent (14-10). 

Tyler Masternak made 18 saves to earn his second shutout of the season. 

The Blue Devils will travel to Blaine, Minn. next Friday, Nov. 15 to play Bethel University. Puck drop from the Bethel University Arena at the National Sports Center is set for 7 p.m. On Saturday, Stout will travel to St. Cloud, Minn. to face Saint John's University for a 7pm start at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center.

MEN'S BASKETBALL

The Blue Devils dropped a pair of games at the Merrill Thompson Classic in Superior, Wis. Falling 61-56 to St. Olaf and 78-67 to Marian. 

Brenden Weis scored a career-high 18 points against St. Olaf, shotting 66.7 % and grabbing 4 rebounds.  For the weekend. He averaged 10.5 PPG, while shooting 58.3 Percent. Totaled 6 rebounds 2 assists and a steal.  

Stout will host a pair of games at the Johnson fieldhouse this week. Welcoming Hamline University on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. and Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 11 a.m.
