Blue Devil Baseball Closes Florida Trip with Two Wins

Stout tops Wisconsin Lutheran and Skidmore College

FORT MYERS, FLA. - The Blue Devil baseball team closed the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic with wins over Wisconsin Lutheran and Skidmore College. 

GAME 1
Stout got 14 hits in a 9-5 win over Wisconsin Lutheran.  The Blue Devils opened the bottom of the second inning with three-straight walks. Jack Redwine hit a infield single to drive in a run to tie the game at 1. Riley Boushack then hit a two-run double to give Stout the lead for good. WLC cut the lead to one in the top of the seventh but Stout responded in the bottom half of the inning with two more runs. Justin Sedin hit a two-run home run in the eighth as part of four-run inning to put the game away. ,Parker Hagebock went 3-4 with two RBI and three runs scored.  Brock Burg went five innings giving up just three hits and striking out five to pick up the win. 

GAME 2
Stout in four home runs to lift the Blue Devils past Skidmore 7-4. Levi Wilson hit a pair of solo homers to go 2-3 with a walk. Stout got on the board first with WIlson's first home run of the game in the top of third. Leyton Bowers lined a single up the middle to drive in Jack Schirpke to double the Stout lead. Skimore got a run back in the fourth and took the lead on a two-run error in the bottom of the fifth. The Blue Devils responded in the top of the sixth when Parker Hagebock deposited the ball over the left field fence for a two-run bomb and the Blue Devils retook the lead 4-3. Wilson hit his second of the game two batters later with a solo jack into right to Stout the 5-3 advantage. Justin Sedin gave the Blue Devils some breathing room in the top of the eighth with a two-run homer to left to give Stout a 7-3 lead. Skidmore got a run back in teh bottom of the inning but the Blue Devils closed the door  on Skidmore in the final two innings to take the win. Wilson, Hagebock and Sedin each had two hits for the Blue Devils and Luke Kallod pitched 2.2 inning in relief to pick up the win. Nathan Weckop pitched a perfect ninth to earn the save. 

 
UP NEXT
Stout went 7-1 on the spring break trip and will return to action Thursday, March 23 when they face Bethel University in a double header in Arden Hills, Minn. The games are set to start at 1 and 3 p.m. at the Royals Hargis Park.
