Kevin Ruechel and
Jacob Bugella qualified to compete at the prestigious Drake Relays at Drake University, Friday, April 29 and Saturday, April 30. Ruechel qualified in the shot put and the discus, while Bugella qualified in the hammer throw.
Ruechel was the only NCAA Division III competitor in the shot put and the Blue Devils senior placed 14th with a toss of 56-feet, 10.25-feet Friday. Ruechel finished ahead of six Division I competitors and two Division II qualifiers.
On Saturday, Ruechel placed 26th in the discus at 138-9 and Bugella finished 11th in the hammer at 195-7, his second-best throw of the season.
