USTFCCCA Outdoor Rankings
MENOMONIE (April 22, 2022) - The UW-Stout men's track and field team head into this week's three-day Phil Esten Challenge at UW-La Crosse as the 10th-ranked team in the NCAA Division III according to the weekly poll released by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The Blue Devils moved into the top 10 for the first time this outdoor season, moving up one spot this week. Stout is currently the highest ranked team from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). UW-La Crosse is ranked 13th, UW-Platteville 16th and UW-Oshkosh 20th. Stout is ranked fourth in the North region. The Blue Devil women are currently ranked sixth in the North region.
The Blue Devils are competing at the three-day Phil Esten Challenge at Veteran's Memorial Stadium and several members of the Blue Devil men's team competed in the 10,000-meter race Thursday, April 21.
Spencer Schultz placed fourth in the event in a time of 29-minutes, 54.50-seconds, coming within 20 seconds of the school record of 29:35.78 set by Tim Nelson in 2012.
Matthew Ryan placed 12th (30:53.67),
Max Fore 36th (32:32.23),
Christian Manthey 38th (32:33.93), Matthew Thomas 53rd (33:17.74),
Andrew Carlson 66th (34:34.46) and
Damon Zielke 67th (34:40.61). The field had 79 runners over two heats.
After the first day of the decathlon on Friday,
Brandon Dick was ninth (3101 pts),
Mason Barth was 10th (3071) and Haydon Zachgo was 11th (3058). The decathletes competed in the 100-meter, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400-meters on the first day. They will conclude their event Saturday with the 110-hurdles, the discus, the pole vault, javelin and the 1500-meter run.
Mackenzie Huber finished 19th in the discus (111-3) and Payton Schneider was 25th (105-1).
