WINSTON-SALEM, NC (March 12, 2022)
- Kevin Ruechel takes home the championship in Shot Put as Mason Barth used the final few events in the Heptathlon to move up in the rankings to take a seventh-place finish on the final day of the 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship at JDL Fast Track.

Ruechel was placed in the second flight, so 10 other throwers already had finished before Ruechel threw. Ruechel used his first throw of 55-feet and 10.25-inches (17.02m) to surpass everyone and put him in first place.

Ruechel then certified his first place finish by beating his first throw, with a 58-feet and 4-inches (17.78m) throw. Ruechel won the event by three feet. This is Ruechel's second national championship award as he placed first in the outdoor shot put last year. Ruechel is the second Stout athlete to win an indoor shot put title. Sam Elsner won the event in 2018.

Barth started the day in 13th-place in the Men's Heptathlon. Barth earned two fifth place finishes in the 60m Hurdles (8.57-tied career best) and the Pole Vault (4.40m) to push him into seventh place. Barth held this seventh-place with a career-best 1000m time (2:48.41) to earn his first All-American award. Barth finished with a personal-best 4922 points.

As a team, Stout finished 15th overall.
