WINSTON-SALEM, NC (March 11, 2022) -
Jacob Bugella earned All-America honors by placing sixth in the weight throw on the first day of the NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track and Field Championship at JDL Fast Track.
Bugella, who last spring placed second in the outdoor hammer throw, finished with a throw of 61-feet, 9.50-inches (18.83m) in the weight throw. Alex Kristeller from Widener won the event with an all-time top 10 of 66-10.75 (20.39m).
Jacob Backes, making his first trip to the NCAA championship, placed 16th in the pole vault with a mark of 14-feet, 9-inches (4.50m). Ben Drummy of Southern Maine won the event with mark of 16-feet, 6.75-inches (5.05m).
After four events,
Mason Barth was 13th of 20 competitors in the heptathlon. Barth ran a 7.41 second 60-meter, jumped a distance of 20-10.50 (6.36m) in the long jump, threw the shot put 33-2 (10.11m) and leaped 6-0.75 (1.85m) in the high jump to tally 2570 points The event will be completed with the final three events Saturday. UW-Eau Claire's Marcus Weaver was in first.
