RIVER FALLS (May 8, 2021) - For a good number of the UW-Stout performers, the 2021 WIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship was the first collegiate conference championship they were able to participate in. With the pandemic wiping out the 2020 outdoor championship and the 2021 indoor championship, this weekend's conference meet was their first time on a conference-wide stage.
Freshmen
Hannah Zastrow and
Kiley Lehman scored points in their first conference championship, with Zastrow placing second in the high jump with a mark of 5-4.50 and sixth in the 100-hurdles (14.65) and Lehman placing seventh in the 400-meter dash (1:00.53). Sophomore
Mackenzie Huber, competing in her first conference outdoor meet, placed fifth in the shot put with a toss of 45-7.
But team veterans also made their way to the podium throughout the day.
Molly Perkins, who won the 10K the night before, finished fifth in the 5000-meter in a time of 18:25.00.
Raelin Sorensen placed fourth in the high jump with a height of 5-2.50.
Sorensen just missed the podium in the 400-meter, finishing 10th (1:01.03).
Sydney Reisner was 19th (1:02.39) and
Isabella Jewell 23rth (1:03.39).
Dalie Thomas was 10th in the 1500-meter run (4:52.25).
Rachel Jackson was 11th in the 5K (19:00.90).
Caitlin Harrison was 11th in the 400-hurdles (1:09.60) and 19th in the 100-hurdles (16.33).
Jenna Driscoll was 15th in the triple jump (34-11.25) and
Shelby Larson was 18th (31-8.75).
Kami Sawtelle was 15th in the discus (122-5) and
Payton Schneider 19th (117-3).
The 4x100-relay team of Harrison,
Davia Clarke,
Kaiya Larson and Sorensen was sixth (50.00) and the 4x400-relay team of Lehman,
Grace Maurer,
Emma Bullard, and Sorensen was fourth (4:00.29).
As a team, Stout placed sixth.
Davia Clarke was named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
