2021 All-WIAC Softball Team
MENOMONIE (May 18, 2021) - UW-Stout shortstop
Shannon Jones was selected to the 2021 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) softball team.
A junior from Watertown, Jones started and played 30 games - 27 at shortstop, three as the designated player - for the Blue Devils and led the team in home runs with three and hit at a .326 clip, going 31-of-95, scoring five runs. Hitting in the second through fourth positions, Jones drove in 12 runs. Jones hit all three of her home runs in conference games, hitting her first collegiate home run against UW-La Crosse, April 10, then added round-trippers against UW-Platteville, April 24 and against eventual conference champion UW-Oshkosh, April 30.
Four times Jones had three hits in a single game and four times Jones had two hits in a game. Jones collected three hits against UW-La Crosse, April 10, UW-Whitewater, April 17, and UW-Platteville, April 24.
Meghan Kelly was selected to the All-Sportsmanship team. Kelly, a senior from Lockport, Ill, was the team's leader in runs batted in with 24 and was nearly flawless at first base where this year she committed only one error in 148 chances for a fielding percentage of .993. Kelly wrapped up her career with a fielding percentage of .989, second on the school's all-time list.
