MENOMONIE — The UW-Stout softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader against UW-La Crosse on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field, falling 2-1 in 10 innings in the opener and 6-1 in the nightcap to close out the 2026 season.
Game 1: Wis.-La Crosse 2, UW-Stout 1 (10 innings)
The Blue Devils and Eagles waged a classic pitchers' duel that went the distance into extra innings.
Sarah Wilkins was exceptional for Stout, delivering a complete 10-inning performance. She struck out 18 batters and allowed just six hits and two runs.
La Crosse broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the top of the 10th. Stout responded in the bottom half as Adi Singer came through with a clutch single, allowing Mattie Schilling to score on a throwing error to make it 2-1. The Blue Devils had the tying run aboard but were unable to push it across.
Payton Dolecki went 2-for-5 with a walk.
Game 2: Wis.-La Crosse 6, UW-Stout 1
The Eagles jumped out to an early lead and added insurance runs in the middle innings to secure the victory.
Stout showed resilience and scored its lone run in the seventh when Adi Singer ripped an RBI double to plate Emma Fortier.
Singer and Fortier each had two hits.
With the losses, the Blue Devils conclude the 2026 season with an overall record of 18-20.
