THIS WEEK'S GAMES: The Blue Devils (3-7, 0-0 WIAC) move into conference play this week and also will be playing their first home games of the season when they host UW-Eau Claire (11-7, 0-0 WIAC), Thursday, April 8 at 3 p.m. at Alumni Field. Stout will travel to UW-La Crosse (4-4, 0-0 WIAC) for a conference doubleheader, Saturday, April 10 at 1 p.m. Eau Claire and Stout's last opponent was Luther College, with the Blue Devils dropping two games to the Norse, March 24, and the Blugolds splitting the next day. Stout's last home game was April 29, 2019, when Stout hosted UW-Stevens Point.
THE 2021 WIAC SCHEDULE: Teams will play their usual 14-game regular-season league schedule, while the conference tournament has been expanded to eight teams with quarterfinal games between the No. 8 seed/No. 1 seed, No. 7 seed/No. 2 seed, No. 6 seed/No. 3 seed and No. 5 seed/No. 4 seed on May 11. The winning teams will advance to the semifinals on May 13. The quarterfinal and semifinal games will be hosted by the higher seed. The championship will feature the two semifinal winners in a three-game series on May 15 and 16 (if necessary) at the higher seed. The teams will also play several non-conference games among themselves.

PARKING: There is no free parking for weekday baseball & softball games. Regular parking restrictions are strictly enforced. Parking for baseball and softball spectators during weekday games is restricted to on-street parking and in Lot 29. Spectators that park in Lot 29 (located just north of the outdoor track) must pay parking fees and register their license plate at the pay station near the main East entrance of the Sports & Fitness Center. Lot 29 parking restrictions end at 4 pm on Monday through Friday.
DO NOT PARK in Lot 4 during the week. Lot 4 is the parking lot located to the west of the Sports & Fitness Center and north of Don & Nona Williams Stadium (the football stadium).
Lot 4 is only open to the general public from 1 p.m. on Fridays until 9 p.m. on Sundays. There is no general parking in Lot 4 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays and not until 1 pm on Fridays. Team buses may park on the east side (outdoor track side - not the metered side) of 3rd Street East. Parking is permitted in all university lots on weekends.

Bella Anderson make up the remainder of the roster. It was 356 days in between games from when the 2020 season was canceled to when the Blue Devils opened with UW-Superior, Feb. 27. Following a 19-18 overall record in 2019, Stout went 3-1 last season before the season came to a premature end after a pair of games March 8, 2020, in Rosemount, Ill. Practices resumed in the fall in a socially-distanced way and, at the beginning, in pods to keep the numbers down on the field. Indoor practice resumed in late January with the entire team working together.
Becky Iaccino begins her sixth season as the Blue Devil head coach. She is assisted by
Chris Iliopoulos, Jessica Stine and Sam Hintzman.
AT THE PLATE: Korin Hall leads the Blue Devils, batting .481 (13-27) with 10 runs scored and has stolen three bases in eight games played.
Meghan Kelly is hitting .400 (12-30) with seven RBI and three doubles.
Kelly Beck is hitting .400 (8-23).
Kaylee Peterson is hitting .360 (9-25) with three RBI, a triple and a double.
Michala Belter has appeared in seven games and is hitting .333 (5-15).

Mackensie Wolterstorff in relief roles, but Wolterstorff has earned one start. Wolterstorff is 1-1 and Kleinschmidt is 1-0, while Bruns is 1-3, and Kunstmann 0-3. Wolterstorff leads the team in strikeouts, fanning 11. Bruns has six Ks, Kunstmann eight and Kleinschmidt four. Bruns has started five games and thrown 18.1 innings, while Kunstmann has started four and pitched 19.1 innings. Kleinschmidt has made five appearances and thrown 11.1 innings.

SCOUTING UW-EAU CLAIRE: The Blugolds are among the top two teams in batting average. Saddie Erickson is second in the WIAC in batting average, hitting .552 (32-58) with 18 RBI on seven doubles, two triples and four home runs. Abby Place is hitting .444 (28-63) with a league-best 24 RBI, on nine doubles, a triple and matches Erickson's conference leading four home runs. Home runs have been a big part of the Blugolds' offense this year, with Erickson, Place, Meghan Witt and Maria Back all tied for the lead in the WIAC with four. As a team, the Blugolds have hit 22 home runs. Bailee Sillman has three, Megan Maruna has two and Ellie Decker has one. Madi Zerr has made 10 appearances with a 4-4 record, a 2.97 ERA and 22 strikeouts. Lauren Gamme is 2-0 with an ERA of 2.83 and 23 strikeouts. |

LAST TIME OUT: Eau Claire split their doubleheader with Luther College March 25, winning the first 8-3, losing the second, 8-6. The Blugolds fell behind 7-0 in game one before a double from Sadie Erickson scored Shaelyn Talley in the fifth inning. Erickson would score on the next at-bat, as Bailee Sillman singled to left field. A single from Katelyn Yute opened the offense in the sixth. Yute advanced to third off a double from Megan Maruna and then scored off a Luther error, making it 7-2. Eau Claire got a pair of hits in the final inning from Abbey Place (Sr.-Naperville, IL/Central) and Maria Back, but were unable to add any runs. In game two it was the Blugolds who struck first, scoring four runs in the third. Erickson kicked off the hitting in the inning with a single and she later scored off a Back double. The Blugolds had five hits in the half-inning.Eau Claire would add two runs apiece in the fourth and fifth innings. A two-run homer from Place kicked things off in the fourth, while an RBI single from Mikayla McEnery opened things up in the fifth. The offense finished with 13 hits in the second game, with Erickson and Maruna leading the team with three each. On the mound, Madi Zerr pitched the entire seven winnings and earned the win, moving her to 4-4 on the season. |

LAST TIME THEY MET: UW-Eau Claire took 4-3, 5-1, wins when the the teams met April 24, 2019, in Menomonie. Eau Claire holds a 55-22 lead in the series that goes back to 1992.
SCOUTING UW-LA CROSSE: The Eagles are 4-4 heading into conference play and are scheduled to host UW-River Falls, Thursday, April 8. Katie Block is hitting .391 (9-23). Sydne Shattuck and Maddie Muelken have been getting majority of the innings in the circle. Shattuck has an ERA of 1.03 and Muelken has an ERA of 1.24 with a a team-best 16 strikeouts. |

LAST TIME OUT: The Eagles took 3-0, 7-1, wins over St. Mary's University, March 28. The Eagles are scheduled to host UW-River Falls, April 8.
LAST TIME THEY MET: The teams split 2-1 decisions, April 20, 2019, in La Crosse, with La Crosse winning the first and Stout taking the second game. La Crosse holds a 41-23 advantage in the series that goes back to 1992.
COACH BECKY IACCINO: Blue Devil coach
Becky Iaccino (83-81 Stout / 101-101 overall) is in her sixth year as the head coach of the Blue Devils with the 2021 season. Iaccino played professionally in Italy
from 2003 to 2011 and with the Italian National team from 2005-07. She has been the head coach at Marian University where she was selected as conference coach of the year, and has eight years of experience as an assistant coach at Division I and Division III programs.
