Blue Devil tennis closes out season on winning note

WHITEWATER  (April 24, 2021) - The UW-Stout tennis team closed out their 2021 season by competing at the WIAC Tennis Championship, presented by Culver's, at UW-Whitewater. The Blue Devils opened the day with a 9-0 loss to UW-La Crosse, then defeated UW-Oshkosh, 7-2, in the consolation match.

In the consolation match, Stout won five singles matches and two doubles matches. Mariah Kent, Olivia Leipnitz and Kyrstin Hanson were double winners today.

Kent took a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles, then combined with Leipnitz for an 8-4 win at No. 2 doubles. Hanson won 6-1, 6-3, at No. 5 singles, then combined with Kylie Rennie at No. 3 doubles for an 8-4 win.

Lauren Couves won at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-3 and Madeline Binczak won at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-0.

Annie Sandry was selected to the All-Sportsmanship team. 

UW-Whitewater and UW-La Crosse will play in the championship match Sunday, April 25.
