THIS WEEK'S GAMES: The Blue Devils (3-10, 0-0 WIAC) were scheduled to be at UW-River Falls (5-7, 1-3 WIAC), Wednesday, April 14, but that game has been postponed to Thursday, April 15 at 2 p.m. due to inclement weather. The Blue Devils are scheduled to return home to host UW-Whitewater (10-4, 0-0 WIAC), Saturday, April 17 at 2 p.m. at Alumni Field.
THE 2021 WIAC SCHEDULE: Teams will play their usual 14-game regular-season league schedule, while the conference tournament has been expanded to eight teams with quarterfinal games between the No. 8 seed/No. 1 seed, No. 7 seed/No. 2 seed, No. 6 seed/No. 3 seed and No. 5 seed/No. 4 seed on May 11. The winning teams will advance to the semifinals on May 13. The quarterfinal and semifinal games will be hosted by the higher seed. The championship will feature the two semifinal winners in a three-game series on May 15 and 16 (if necessary) at the higher seed. The teams will also play several non-conference games among themselves.

PARKING: There is no free parking for weekday baseball & softball games. Regular parking restrictions are strictly enforced. Parking for baseball and softball spectators during weekday games is restricted to on-street parking and in Lot 29. Spectators that park in Lot 29 (located just north of the outdoor track) must pay parking fees and register their license plate at the pay station near the main East entrance of the Sports & Fitness Center. Lot 29 parking restrictions end at 4 pm on Monday through Friday.
DO NOT PARK in Lot 4 during the week. Lot 4 is the parking lot located to the west of the Sports & Fitness Center and north of Don & Nona Williams Stadium (the football stadium).
Lot 4 is only open to the general public from 1 p.m. on Fridays until 9 p.m. on Sundays. There is no general parking in Lot 4 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays and not until 1 pm on Fridays. Team buses may park on the east side (outdoor track side - not the metered side) of 3rd Street East. Parking is permitted in all university lots on weekends.

Bella Anderson make up the remainder of the roster. It was 356 days in between games from when the 2020 season was canceled to when the Blue Devils opened with UW-Superior, Feb. 27. Following a 19-18 overall record in 2019, Stout went 3-1 last season before the season came to a premature end after a pair of games March 8, 2020, in Rosemount, Ill. Practices resumed in the fall in a socially-distanced way and, at the beginning, in pods to keep the numbers down on the field. Indoor practice resumed in late January with the entire team working together.

AT THE PLATE: Shannon Jones leads the Blue Devils at the plate, hitting .359 (14-39) with a double and a home run for eight RBI.
Kaylee Peterson is hitting .333 (13-39) with three doubles, a triple and five RBI.

IN THE CIRCLE: The Blue Devils will rely on seniors

Madee Kleinschmidt and sophomore
Mackensie Wolterstorff in relief roles, but Wolterstorff has earned one start. Wolterstorff is 1-1 and Kleinschmidt is 1-0, while Bruns is 1-4, and Kunstmann 0-5. Wolterstorff leads the team in strikeouts, fanning 16. Bruns has eight Ks, Kunstmann 12 and Kleinschmidt four. Bruns has started six games and thrown 24.1 innings, while Kunstmann has started six and pitched a team-best 31.1 innings. Kleinschmidt has made six appearances and thrown 11.1 innings.
BLUE DEVILS LAST TIME OUT: The Blue Devils were edged 4-2 at UW-La Crosse April 10 and the second game was postponed. That game will be made up when La Crosse comes to Menomonie, April 28. In the first game of the doubleheader that day, La Crosse will be the home team and the first game will be a conference game. The second game will be considered non-conference.
Shannon Jones gave UW-Stout a 2-0 lead with her first career home run, lifting a shot to left field with
Korin Hall on base. Hall led off the game with a walk and, following an out, Jones lifted the pitch to give Stout (3-10, 0-3 WIAC) the lead. But the Eagles threatened in third inning, but Blue Devil pitcher
Sommer Kunstmann closed out the by getting the third out via a strikeout with the bases loaded. The Eagle tied the game in the fourth inning on an infield RBI single by Katie Block and a sacrifice by Kendra Leis. Block and Leis both recorded their second RBIs of the night with singles to the left side of the diamond. Kunstmann went the distance for the Blue Devils, giving up 12 hits, while surrendering the four runs, of which two were earned. The senior recorded one strikeout and gave up one walk. |

SCOUTING UW-RIVER FALLS: Freshman Johanna Breyen is leading the Falcons at the plate with a healthy .588 (20-34), recording three doubles and a triple. Tayler Fall is hitting .438 (7-16) in six games played, buthas a team-best six RBI. Juliana Reynolds is second in the WIAC in strikeouts, tallying 39 over a team-best 36.0 innings pitched. Reynolds has a 6-6 overall record with an ERA of 3.11. |

LAST TIME OUT: The Falcons split with UW-Eau Claire, April 11, winning the opener, 8-4, but losing the second game, 8-0. River Falls scored four runs in both the second and fourth innings, while the Blugolds scored two runs in each the fifth and seventh innings. Tayler Fall finished the game with five RBI, hitting a two-run single in the second and a three run home run in the fourth. Juliana Reynolds recorded five strikeouts for the Falcons. The Blugolds flipped the script and held River Falls to only two hits in game two. |

Meg Cpjrs is hitting .362 (17-47) with five doubles, Vera {f;igradt is batting .333 (16-48) with five doubles and a home run, Nikki Mikosz is hitting .391 (15-47) with a team-best six home runs and leads the team in RBI with 19. LAST TIME OUT: The Warhawks had several games postponed due to inclement weather last week. Their games with UW-Oshkosh, April 10, and games with UW-Stevens Point, April 12, were postponed. The Warhawks are scheduled to host UW-Platteville, Wednesday, April 14. The Warhawks have yet play a conference game. Their last outing was March 28 when they swept Wisconsin Lutheran.
LAST TIME THEY MET: The Blue Devils and the Warhawks split the last time the teams met when Stout traveled to UW-Whitewater, April 15, 2019, with Stout winning the first game, 5-4, and Whitewater taking the nightcap, 8-2.
COACH BECKY IACCINO: Blue Devil coach
Becky Iaccino (83-84 Stout / 101-104 overall) is in her sixth year as the head coach of the Blue Devils with the 2021 season. Iaccino played professionally in Italy
from 2003 to 2011 and with the Italian National team from 2005-07. She has been the head coach at Marian University where she was selected as conference coach of the year, and has eight years of experience as an assistant coach at Division I and Division III programs.
