AN OVERALL LOOK AT UW-STOUT:
- The Blue Devils return two players who averaged in double figures last season - Anna Mutch (10.6) and Haylee Yaeger (10.9).
- Anna Mutch was an honorable mention selection to the All-WIAC team and was named the WIAC newcomer of the year. Anna Mutch opened the season with a bang, recording a double-double in the season opener, tallying 14 points and 12 rebounds. Mutch finished third in the WIAC in rebounds, averaging 7.1 boards. Mutch was 14th in the league in scoring (10.6).
- The Blue Devils return nine letterwinners from last season. Among those letterwinners are three starters - Lizzy Olsem, Haley Yaeger and Anna Mutch.
- The Blue Devils have one senior (Olsem), three juniors, five sophomores and seven freshmen.
- Last season, Haylee Yaeger scored in double-digits in four of nine games, and notched a career-best 20 points in the first game with La Crosse and made it a double-double with 10 rebounds, her second career double-double. Yaeger led the team in scoring with 10.9 points and was second on the team in rebounds with 5.4.
- Anna Mutch scored a collegiate-high 14 points in season opener vs. UW-River Falls, Feb. 3 and also scored her first double-double with 12 rebounds against the Falcons. Mutch matched her 14 points against UW-La Crosse, Feb. 17. Mutch was the team leader in rebounds, averaging 7.1 rebounds. Mutch finished third in the league in rebounds, 14th in scoring - but first among all freshmen - 10th in field goal percentage (31-69, .449), sixth in free throw percentage (31-40, .775), third in steals (15, 1.67/game), and 12th in minutes played (28.4).
- The Blue Devils return 73.7 percent of their scoring from last year, returning 47.4 points. As a team, Stout averaged 64.2 points per contest and gave up 75.6.
- The Blue Devils opened last season by sweeping UW-River Falls, then lost the next seven games.

CONFERENCE STANDINGS:
- The Blue Devils were voted to finish sixth in a WIAC 2021-22 preseason poll conducted by conference coaches and sports information directors. UW-Oshkosh was picked first, UW-Whitewater second, UW-Eau Claire third, UW-La Crosse fourth, UW-Stevens Point fifth, UW-Platteville seventh and UW-River Falls eighth. | 2021-22 WIAC Preseason Poll
STOUT LAST TIME OUT:
- In the course of just over one week, the Blue Devils played and lost to UW-Whitewater, 76-51, Feb. 24, 77-52, Feb. 26 and 66-49, March 1 in the WIAC Championship first round.
- The third time did not prove to be the charm for UW-Stout as UW-Whitewater defeated the Blue Devils, 66-49, in the two teams' third straight outing, this time in the first round of the WIAC Championship, presented by Culver's, at Kachel Gymnasium Monday. By a quirk in the shortened schedule. Stout and Whitewater met for three consecutive games - twice to end the regular season and in the opening round of the tournament - and the Warhawks (7-2) controlled all three games. Like in the other two contests, the Warhawks took an early lead and would not relinquish it, but to the Blue Devils' credit, they were able to get within striking range several times, including in the final minutes when Stout (2-7) pulled to within seven points with four minutes left in the game. The Warhawks were able to answer any Stout rally attempt and kept the Blue Devils at bay and pulled away to the 17 point win. The Warhawks led 12-5 at the end of the first quarter, 29-19 at halftime and 44-31 at the end of the third quarter. The Warhawks forced 27 Stout turnovers and produced 20 points off turnovers. Blue Devil forward Lizzy Olsem had her best offensive output of the season, scoring 16 points, matching a career-best. Senior guard Liz Oswald and sophomore forward Haylee Yaeger each scored nine points. Freshman guard Anna Mutch was held to four points, her lowest point total of the season, but she still managed to pull down eight rebounds, one over her season average. Emily Schumacher scored 16 points to lead the Warhawks. Rebekah Schumacher added 13 points and Adriana Wood finished with 12 points. The Warhawks held a 47-33 advantage in rebounds. Johanna Taylor had a game-high nine rebounds and Aleah Grundahl had seven boards. Stout shot 19 of 51 from the floor (.373), 7 of 20 from 3-point range (.350) and 4 of 5 from the line (.800). The Warhawks shot 23 of 69 from the floor (.333), 12 of 35 from beyond the arc (.353) and 8 of 13 from the line (.615). | Game Story and Statistics
SCOUTING UW-SUPERIOR

Christian was an honorable-mention choice. She averaged 14.4 points per game while finishing 10th in both in the conference in 3-point makes per game (1.6) and free-throw percentage (.69.8). Christian scored a career-high 24 points and matched her career best with five assists against Minnesota Morris on Feb. 27. | Statistics

A QUICK LOOK AT LORAS COLLEGE
- Loras received votes in the preseason D3hoops.com Top 25 poll. A monstrous third-quarter helped spark Loras College to second-half domination against Elmhurst University Nov. 6 as the Duhawks put up 55 points in the final 20 minutes to secure a 91-62 victory to open the 2021-22 campaign. The Duhawks last season finished 6-7 overall and advanced to the second round of the American Rivers Conference (ARC) tournament, falling 78-59 to Coe College. Sami Martin earned D3hoops.com West Region Rookie of the Year award last seson after averaging 14.7 points per game which ranked fifth in the league, and had a team-high 88 rebounds. She had seven blocks on the season, good for second on the team, and posted three double-doubles during the season, including a 17-point, 11 rebound performance in the conference tournament semifinal matchup against Coe College on March 11. She also had a season-high 25 points twice and was the only freshman in the A-R-C to earn First Team nods. Ciarra Bachman was a second team all-ARC pick, averaging 12.5 points per game, and had a career-high 21 points against Concordia University Wisconsin on Jan. 13. Williams holds the Bethel single-season steals record with 115 takeaways during the 2019-20 season and most tied the single-game record with her 11 steals against Saint Benedict last season. Williams is third on the school's all-time steals list. Kat Brown-Erdal returns as the team's leading scorer after averaging 14.0 points per contest last year. The Royals finished last season at 4-4 overall. Stout and Bethel have met only once, a 69-58 Bethel win, Dec. 29, 2016, at Wisconsin Dells. | Statistics

UW-STOUT HANNAH IVERSON
- Hannah Iverson (35-27) is in her fourth year in 2021-22 as the head coach of the Blue Devils.
- Prior to becoming the Blue Devils' head coach, Iverson was the director of player development for women's basketball at NCAA Division I UW-Green Bay, a position she began in October, 2016. As well as working directly with the team, Iverson managed the program's operating budget, coordinated team travel, co-directed summer camps and clinics and handled all aspects of team film. She assisted in the set-up of on-campus recruiting and coordinating official and unofficial visits for potential recruits. Iverson held a similar position - director of basketball operations - at the University of Illinois from 2014-16.
- Iverson spent two years at NAIA member Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa, as an assistant women's basketball coach for the 2012-14 school years. Iverson was in charge of guard development in a season where she helped the Saints to the 2014 Association of Independent Institutions tournament championship, earning Ashford a berth in the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Championship tournament, the first conference title and appearance in the NAIA D-II tournament in Saints history.
- A member of the UW-Green Bay women's basketball team from 2008-12, playing as Hannah Quilling, Iverson finished her career in the top 10 for games played as the Phoenix posted a 122-13 record over her four years. The team was 68-4 in Horizon League play and advanced to the NCAA Division I tournament four times, including one trip to the Sweet 16. She led the Horizon League in assist-to-turnover ratio in 2011-12, was sixth in steals per game and ninth in assists per game. She was also named to the Horizon League Honor Roll, earned the UW-Green Bay Chancellor's Leadership Medallion, was a two-time recipient of the UW-Green Bay University Leadership Award and the Patricia Hinckley Scholarship, and won the JoAnne Jennings Award in 2012.
- Iverson has gotten to 30 career wins faster than any other Blue Devil basketball coach, men or women. Iverson reached her 30th win in 42 games. Mark Thomas needed to turn around a women's basketball program that had won only two games the previous two seasons before he arrived. Thomas needed 75 games to reach 30 wins, but once he did, he kept building and became the winningest basketball coach in Blue Devil history, both men and women. On the men's side, Ray Johnson needed 59 games to reach 30 wins. Dewey Mintz needed 67 games to reach 30, John Muraski needed 63 and Eddie Andrist needed 59 games.
UW-SUPERIOR COACH ZACH OTTO-FISHER

Otto-Fisher helped the Yellowjackets to a 18-9 record and 13-3 mark in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference in 2019-20 before falling to Bethany Lutheran in the conference title game in 2019-20. UWS placed Emily Carpenter and Eva Reinertsen on the All-UMAC First Team, while Marissa Ruiz earned an honorable-mention selection and Carpenter also landed on the all-defensive team. Reinertsen became the first student in school history to be named CoSIDA Academic All-America for the second straight season as well as the first-ever to be a first-team pick. Reinertsen was also named D3hoops.com All-Region.
LORAS COLLEGE COACH JUSTIN HEINZEN
- Justin Heinzen is in his 15th season as head women's basketball coach at Loras College. Heinzen, the program's all-time wins leader, has compiled an overall coaching record of 233-133, which includes four NCAA Tournament appearances in the last seven seasons. Through 13 years, Heinzen, a three-time conference Coach of the Year, has a 131-77 record in American Rivers Conference games. Heinzen and the Duhawks faced a new challenge in the 2020-21 season as they played during the COVID-19 pandemic, but the young squad saw great success, advancing to the conference semifinal game and defeating then-ranked No. 4 Wartburg. The Duhawks secured two All-Conference honorees and the program's first D3hoops.com West Region Rookie of the Year in Sami Martin.
BETHEL UNIVERSITY COACH JON HERBRECHTSMEYER
- Jon Herbrechtsmeyer has led the Bethel Royals program to new heights in his tenure since 2002, something he has done at each institution he has coached at.
