2021 WIAC Soccer Athletes of the Week
MENOMONIE (November 2, 2021) - UW-Stout junior midfielder
Rachel Younker (Genoa, Ill/Genoa-Kingston) scored two goals in the first 15 minutes of a conference win over UW-Stevens Point Oct. 30 and was selected as the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC)/Kwik Trip Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week. Younker is also the UW-Stout Athlete of the Week.Â
Younker scored in the sixth minute of the game at Stevens Point, then added another goal in the 15th minute of the game and the Blue Devils made the goals stand up in a 2-1 win in the regular season finale.
Younker entered the game with one goal this season and two career goals. She finished the game with two shots, both on net and both goals. For her career, Younker has four career goals and one assist. Younker has played in 34 career games and has started 32.
The Blue Devils finished the regular season at 11-7-1 overall, with the 11 wins their most in a single season since 2011. Stout returns to Stevens Point Tuesday, Nov. 2 for a first round WIAC Tournament game. A Stout win would send the Blue Devils to top-seeded UW-Oshkosh Thursday, Nov. 4. The championship game is Saturday, Nov. 6 at the highest seeded team remaining.
