OSHKOSH (February 29, 2020) -
Brent Heilman won the 200-meter dash at the WIAC Indoor Track and Field Championship in a career best time of 22.15, the second-best time in school history. Overall, the Blue Devils placed sixth with 46 points.
Terry Anders set the mark of 21.82 in 1997. Heliman edged out UW-Oshkosh's Benny Jung by one one-hundredths of a second. Jung clocked a 22.16. Heilman's title is Stout's first 200m championship in the event since Anders was a three-time champion in 1995, 1996, and 1997.
Mitch Koeckeritz nabbed 11th place in the high jump at 6-feet 1.25-inches (1.86m).
Jimmy Hinkley found 12th place in the weight throw - marking 51-feet 9-inches (15.77m) for a career best.
The 4x400 meter relay team of
Parker Rongstad,
Cody Lohrenz,
Owen Jelinek, and
Nathan Skroch earned sixth place with a time of 3:27.20.
Alex Grulkowski and
Mason Barth took 11th and 12th place in the men's heptathlon. Grulkowski had strong showings in the 60-meter dash with 7.18 seconds for third place and in the shot put with 36-feet 9.75 inches (11.22m) for seventh place. Barth took second in the 60-meter hurdles with 8.70 seconds and sixth in the 1000-meter with 2:52.21.
Brian Mathews saw action in the 3000-meter, collecting 12th overall with a time of 8:48.76. Senior Rongstad collected eighth place in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing a 8.45 seconds.
Daniel Nesja finished 12th overall in the triple jump collecting 43-feet 8.5 inches (13.32m).
The Blue Devils look to the Wartburg Last Chance Meet next Saturday March 7 as their final meet before the NCAAs.
