University of St. Thomas Showcase
ST. PAUL, Minn. (February 14, 2020) -
Kevin Ruechel and
Simon Lual earned first place finishes at the University of St. Thomas Showcase Friday.
Brent Heilman earned two runner-up finishes in the sprints.
Jack Kolar was second in the pole vault and
Henry Hughes was second in the mile run.
Ruechel won the shot put by more than three feet over the nearest Division III competitor, throwing a (16.81m) 55-2.
Max Johnson finished eighth (14.79m).
Lual increased his distance in the triple jump with a career-best mark of 45-feet, 3.5-inches (13.80m), third on the Stout all-time freshman list.
Hawkin Petron was third (12.71m).
Heilman earned a second place finish in the 60m dash in a time of 7.04 seconds and in the 200m dash with a time of 22.35.
Mackenson Steinberg was sixth in the 60 (7.17) and
Nathan Skroch was seventh in the 200 (23.52).
Hughes was second in the mile with a time of 4-minutes, 19.54-seconds, a collegiate-best. Mike Fifield finished fifth (4:24.32).
Jack Kolar was second in the pole vault with a height of 14-9.
Hawkin Petron (4.42m) was third;. Alec Varoni (4.27m) eighth and
Jacob Tomazevic (4.12m) 12th.
Trevin Nelson was third in the 800m (1:58.33), After setting a school record last week in the pole vault,
Noah Zastrow took a break from the event and finished third in the long jump (6.63m).
Bobby Vang was seventh in the long jump (6.34m).
Parker Rongstad was sixth in the 60-hurdles with a time of 8.64-seconds.
Brian Mathews was seventh in the 5000m (15:40.77) and
Matthew Ryan 12th (15:54.82). Mitchell Koeckeritz was seventh in the high jump (1.80m).
As a team, the Blue Devils finished second of five complete teams. Stout will be at the UW-Oshkosh Titan Invitational Saturday, Feb. 22.
