THIS WEEK'S GAMES: The Blue Devils (2-5-0, 0-0-0 WIAC) will be at
UW-Superior, (2-5-2, 1-0-0 UMAC) Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. and will open the WIAC season when they host
UW-Stevens Point (6-2-2, 0-0-0 WIAC), Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. at UW-River Falls. Stout will spend all of the 2019 season on the road,. The soccer field in the Nelson Athletic Complex is under renovation, with an
artificial surface field to highlight the renovation. The Blue Devils were originally scheduled to play four conference games in Menomonie, but weather and field conditions have taken that option away.
JUST AN ODD SCHEDULE THIS YEAR: The Blue Devils are road warriors this year. Four conference games that were originally to be played in Menomonie have been moved. The Blue Devils will play UW-Stevens Point, Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. at UW-River Falls; UW-Oshkosh, Saturday, Oct. 12 has been changed to 4:30 .m. at UW-River Falls.; UW-Whitewater, Saturday, Oct. 26 has been changed to 10 a.m. at UW-Eau Claire's Bollinger Field; and UW-Eau Claire, Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. will be at UW-Eau Claire's Bollinger Field. Stout will host Minnesota-Morris, Sunday, Oct. 27 at the UW-River Falls field. All of Stout's non-conference games are on the road. That will turn around next season when the new Stout facility is expected to be ready.
ON-LINE: When the Nelson Field facility is completed, the facility is expected to have complete network capabilities.
PARKING: Parking on the UW-Stout campus is restricted during the business week. For games at Nelson Field during the week, please plan to park in Lot 29. Do not park in Lot 4, which is a reserved lot for students that live in the residence halls.
THE BLUE DEVILS THIS YEAR: The Blue Devils have been all over the board this season, posting one goal losses, two goal losses, a one goal win, a two goal win and getting blown out.
Claudia Anderson has started six games and has stopped 69 shots on net, an average of 11.50 saves per game, far and above tops in the WIAC.
Erica Seitz made her first start and picked up her first collegiate win, downing Cornell College, 3-2.
Ariel Kuchta leads the Blue Devils with two goals and an assist.
Hannah Kirchner has two goals.
Rachel Washington has one goal and two assists.
Marissa Steele has a goal and an assist.
Rachel Younker has a goal and
Whitley Carothers and
Megan Richardson each have an assist. Anderson has a goals against average of 3.11 with 69 saves and a saves percentage .802,
Rachel Nowak a GAA of 3.23 and Seitz a GAA of 2.46. |

BLUE DEVILS LAST TIME OUT: After a scoreless first half, St. Mary's University scored twice in the first 20 minutes of the second half and the Cardinals took a 2-0 win Sept. 25 in Winona, Minn.

Rachel Nowak (Jr, Lomira), all 6-foot-2 of her, returns to the goalie box after a year off. Nowak started two games in 2017, playing in four, earning a goals against average of 0.95. Freshman goalie

A LOOK AT UW-SUPERIOR: Annah Schussman leads the Yellowjackets with four goals and one assist for nine points. Schussman has been named the UMAC offensive player of the week twice this season. Three other players have scored one goal. Madison Gutekunst has started seven of the team's games and has a GAA of 1.95. Morgan Philliber has seen action in three games and has a GAA of 2.00. . |

THE YELLOWJACKETS LAST TIME OUT: Sophomore Annah Schussman scored twice, including the game-winning goal with just 15 seconds remaining in the second extra-time period, to lift the UW-Superior women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Northland at NBC Spartan Sports Complex Sunday. As time was winding down, senior Kaylee Johnson got a step on her defender on flank and found Schussman, who took one stride and fired a left-footed shot past Northland goalkeeper Megan Jordan for the win. The goal ended a stretch of more than 70 minutes of scoreless play after UWS tied the match, 1-1, on Schussman's first tally of the day in the 37th minute. On that play, She took a feed from Ivy Grochowski and deposited the ball into the lower left of the net. |

THE POINTERS LAST TIME OUT: Pointers were to host Loras College Sunday, Sept. 29, but that game was postponed. A short-handed UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team (6-2-2) conceded two second-half goals in a 2-0 loss to Illinois Wesleyan (5-4-0) on Saturday. The defeat was UWSP's first at home this season. Freshman goalkeeper Miranda Nieman (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Lincoln) made six saves for the Pointers, but took her first loss as UWSP's keeper. The Titans broke a scoreless tie in the 67th minute. Two minutes later, the Pointers' deficit doubled to 2-0. |

UW-STOUT COACH RYAN RAUFUS: Coach
Ryan Raufus (57-77-19) is in his ninth year as the head coach of the Blue Devils. Raufus played his college ball at Springfield College in Massachusetts and came to Stout after coaching at La Crosse Logan High School and La Crescent, Minn., High School. (Raufus began the 2019 season at 55-72-19)
TWENTY-FOUR YEARS OF BLUE DEVIL SOCCER: After many years as a club sport, UW-Stout became the ninth WIAC team to join the varsity ranks during the 1995 season. The Blue Devils took their lumps to open the season, making their premiere by hosting Augsburg College, Sept. 10, in a 7-0 loss. Stout opened the conference season three days later at Nelson Field, hosting perennial conference powerhouse UW-Stevens Point, dropping a 6-0 decision. The Blue Devils finally broke onto the scoreboard in their third game. While hosting UW-Platteville, Sept. 17, Kari Stapleton scored in the 70th minute on an assist from Jenny Tyson in a 2-1 loss. The Blue Devils would get their first-ever win, a 3-0 decision at Martin Luther College, Sept. 23, collecting goals from Amie Frasier, Tyson and Joann Sognesand. Defender Andrea Schroeder was a second team all-conference selection in 1995, then was selected to the first team in 1996. Members of that first 1995 team include: April Amys, Beeta Bastani, Tammy Beuch, Carrie Blaska, Jen Chapple, Michelle Coon, Amie Frasier, Aimee Grimm, Jamie Jester, Julie Kremer, Dorian Loberg, Amy Lyons, Kristin Manion, Anglea McDowell, Andrea Schroeder, Joann Sognesand, Kari Stapleton, Jenny Tyson, Alisa Zimmerman. Lisa Petruccelli was the Blue Devils first coach, leading the team from 1995-98, followed by Dave Morris (1999-2005), Meagan Frank (2006-10) and

DOWN THE ROAD:The Blue Devils return to their home away from home when they travel to UW-River Falls to take on the Falcons Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 3:30 p.m. Stout will return to River Falls to host UW-Oshkosh, Saturday, Oct. 12 at 4:30 p.m. and then will be at Hamline University, Sunday, Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. to make-up a game that was postponed Sept. 11.
