THIS WEEK'S MATCHES: After spending last weekend at the UW-Stevens Point tournament, the Blue Devils (12-4, 0-1 WIAC) return to 
UW-Stevens Point (13-4, 1-0 WIAC) to face the Pointers in a conference contest Wednesday, Sept. 25. Stout will play a single match at the 
University of Dubuque (8-5, 0-1 IIAC), Friday, Sept. 27.  
BLUE DEVILS LAST TIME OUT: The Blue Devils lost 3-2 to UW-Platteville, Sept. 17, in the WIAC opener, then bounced back to win all three games at the UW-Stevens Point Tournament, winning 3-0 in all three contests over North Park University, the Milwaukee School of Engineering and Millikin University, Sept. 20-21. |

THE BLUE DEVILS IN 2019: The Blue Devils started the season off with an eight match winning streak and lost only one set during that stretch. But the honeymoon came to end for Stout when they went 1-3 at the Bethel University Tournament, Sept. 13-14, losing two five set matches and a four set match, then dropped the WIAC opener, 3-2, to UW-Platteville, Sept. 17 in Menomonie. As a team, the Blue Devils are averaging 13.24 kills per set. Sophomore 
Lexie Nelson is leading the Blue Devils with 2.75 kills per set, good for seventh in the WIAC, while averaging 4.60 assists while combining with senior 
Jessica DuVal in a 6-2 formation. DuVal is averaging a team-best 5.54 assists, sixth in the WIAC.  Freshman 
Lydia Kneubuehl has been making her presence known in the middle, averaging 2.64 kills per set, good for 10th in the WIAC. Kneubuehl has posted double-digit kills in seven of the Blue Devils 16 matches, including a season-high 20 against Wisconsin Lutheran. Kneubuehl is ranked ninth in the WIAC in blocks, averaging 0.71 blocks, tallying six solo and 33 block assists. The Blue Devils' all-region libero, 
Steph Cannon, currently leads the conference in digs, averaging 5.70 per set, and is ranked nationally among the top 25. Cannon, who set a school career record last year in digs, currently has 1877 career digs. The Blue Devils have three players within the top 10 in the WIAC in service aces. Nelson is third with 24 (0.42), 
Amber Ripley fourth (0.40) and 
Emily Makina 10th with 21 (0.37). The Blue Devils lead the league in service aces with 122 (2.14).  |

THE BLUE DEVILS IN 2018: The Blue Devils finished the conference season in a three-way tie for third place with UW-La Crosse and UW-Stevens Point and earned the No. 4 seed in the WIAC Tournament, hosting a home tournament game for the first time since the 2004 season. | 
2018 Statistics
MILESTONE MARKERS: Every time 
Steph Cannon collects a dig this season, she will break her own career school record.. Last season, Cannon shot down the school career digs record, collecting 1564 digs over three seasons, topping Alicia Mizer's four-year total of 1510. Accomplishing the feat in three season, as a freshman, Cannon collected 341 digs. Injury kept her out of action the following year, but when she returned, Cannon was moved to the libero spot where she had 548 digs. She finished the 2018 season with a school record 675 digs, breaking the school record of 657 by Peyton Schultz in 2015. Twelve times last season, Cannon has had more than 25 digs in a single match. Jessica DuVal had 2770 career assists coming into the 2019 season. The three year starter had 867 assists her freshman year, 923 as a sophomore and 980 as a junior.

UW-STEVENS POINT: The Pointers are off to a 13-4 start, but are coming off a 3-2 loss to 18th ranked St. Thomas at the UW-Stevens Point Tournament. April Gehl, a second team AVCA All-America last season, leads the league and is second in NCAA in kills, averaging 4.70 kills per set. Gehl put down 30 kills in the loss to St. Thomas, her second 30-kill match of the season. Only twice this season has Gehl recorded fewer than 10 kills in a match. Ellie Adams is second in the WIAC in assists with 10.35. Maddie Lawson is third in the WIAC in blocks, averaging 0.84. Not surprisingly, the Pointers lead the WIAC in kills at 12,35. Stout is third at 11.81.|

LAST TIME THEY MET:  The teams played twice last season in Johnson Fieldhouse with the Pointers took two 3-1 wins, including a first round WIAC playoff. The Blue Devils had not hosted a WIAC playoff game since the 2004 season, but the Pointers spoiled the Blue Devils' party. UW-Stout fell behind 2-0, came back to win the third set, but UW-Stevens Point blew into Johnson Fieldhouse and took the fourth set to earn a 3-1 win over the Blue Devils Tuesday in the first round of the WIAC Volleyball Championship (presented by Culver's). The fourth seeded Blue Devils (16-13), hosting a first round game for the first time since 2004, had to battle uphill most of the evening. The fifth seeded Pointers captured the night 25-18, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18 to advance to the second round of the tournament. |

McKylie Hoff combined for 40 kills, but UW-Stout still came up short and lost a 3-1 decision to UW-Stevens Point Wednesday at Johnson Fieldhouse Sept. 26, 2018. After two sets, the teams were tied with the Pointers taking the first set, 25-21, but Stout came back to tie with a 25-20 decision. The Pointers edged out a 25-23 third set, then came back to win the fourth set, 26-24.  Nelson led Stout with a collegiate-best 17 kills, while Strain finished with 13 kills and Hoff with 10 kills. April Gehl, who is currently third in the NCAA Division III in kills, had a monster effort and finished the night with 27 kills and an attack percentage of .431. The Pointers hold a 32-28 lead in the series.  |

UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE: The Spartans started off on a six match winning streak, but have since then have gone 2-5. Dubuque is scheduled to play at Wartburg Tuesday, Sept. 24. Kara Wright is recording a kills per set average of 2.78 and Grace Hintze is at 2.49. Kate Messino is averaging 7.38 assists per set. Grace Strawser is averaging 5.73 digs per set and is among the top 25 in Division III. At 6-foot, 2-inches, Rylee Andreson is among the top 15 nationally in blocks, averaging 1.17 per set. |

LAST TIME THEY MET: The teams have not played since Oct. 24, 2015, when Stout took a 3-2 win at the Coe College Invitational. The Blue Devils hold a 6-3 lead in the series.   
CONFERENCE & NATIONAL POLLS: The Blue Devils were picked to finish fifth in the WIAC this season, according to a preseason poll conducted by WIAC head coaches and sports information directors. UW-Eau Claire was projected to finish first, followed by UW-Whitewater; UW-La Crosse; UW-Stevens Point; UW-Stout; UW-Oshkosh; UW-River Falls; and UW-Platteville. |

UW-STOUT COACH MANDY TRAUTMANN: Coach 
Mandy Trautmann (28-17) is in her second season as the head coach of the Blue Devils. in her first season as head coach in 2018, Trautmann led the Blue Devils to home WIAC playoff berth, the first for the Blue Devils since 2004. Trautmann took over the Blue Devils after a season as an assistant coach. Prior to coming to Stout, Trautmann was the team captain for UW-Oshkosh in 2015, a season the Titans captured the WIAC regular season championship. Trautmann was a two-time first team all-WIAC selection in 2014 and 2015, and an honorable mention choice in 2013. She was named to the all-WIAC defensive team in 2013, 2014 and 2015. 
QUICK HITS: The Blue Devils have six seniors, two juniors, six sophomores and seven freshmen on the 2019 roster...the team is made up of 11 players from Minnesota, six from Wisconsin and one each from Iowa and Illinois...assistant coach
