A LOOK AT UW-STOUT:
- The Blue Devils have three players averaging in double figures with Shannan Watkins leading Stout with a 14.2 per game average, good for fifth in the WIAC. Three times this season Watkins has scored 20 or more points, including a career-best 27 points against Illinois Wesleyan. She scored 23 against Viterbo University, hitting 13 free throws. She had a 20-point outing against Husson last weekend. Amber Fabeck is averaging 11.2 points and Liz Oswald 10.1. Senior forward Emily Jacques leads the team in rebounds with 6.3 caroms. Last weekend, Jacques averaged 9.5 rebounds over the two Florida games. Jacques is sixth in the WIAC in rebounds. Watkins is second on the team in rebounds at 5.9 per contest and Fabeck is averaging 4.7 per contest. Freshman Haylee Yaeger is coming off the bench to average 4.3 rebounds. Watkins tops out the WIAC in assists with 5.0 per game.
- Stout is averaging a league-best 73.5 points points and are giving up 62.7 points.
- The Blue Devils return two starters from last season's team in Amber Fabeck, who earned all-WIAC honorable mention honors, and Liz Oswald. Fabeck averaged 13.4 points and had 5.0 rebounds. Oswald, along with Shannan Watkins, Becky Fesenmaier, Emily Jacques and Lizzy Olsem have seen considerable throughout their careers. The Blue Devils return nine players from last year and welcome nine newcomers.
- The Blue Devils lost two all-conference players in guards Kyncaide Diedrich and Bailey Diersen and will need to replace the duo's scoring prowess. Also lost to graduation was Carolyn Feddema.
- But Amber Fabeck, who earned All-WIAC honorable mention honors, returns. Fabeck last season averaged 13.4 points and pulled down 5.0 rebounds. Shannan Watkins returned full-time for the Blue Devils last year after missing nearly a season and a half due to injury. The senior guard from Hoover, Ala., saw action in 26 games and averaged 8.2 points. Watkins was among the leaders for the Blue Devils in scoring, assists and steals.
- Senior Becky Fesenmaier and Emily Jacques have been contributors their first three season and Fesenmaier saw action in all 27 games last year and Jacques in 26 games. Throughout her career, Jacques played in 76 of 77 possible games. Throughout her career, Jacques has averaged 3.8 rebounds per contest. Fesenmaier has played in 74 possible games.
- Liz Oswald and Lizzy Olsem played in all 27 games year, with Oswald starting all 27 games where she averaged 6.7 points.
- Also returning this season are senior Kelsey Kainz, junior Keysha Hazelton and sophomore Gina Palasz.
- Newcomers this year include junior transfer guard Molly Wampler, guards Lindsey Johnson, Courtney Crouch, Melanie Carli, Katie Christopherson, Alexa Neilitz, and Paityn Tiefs, freshman forward Haylee Yaeger and freshman center Erin O'Brien

CONFERENCE STANDINGS:
- The Blue Devils are projected to finish fifth in the WIAC according to a WIAC preseason poll by conference coaches and sports information directors. UW-Oshkosh was picked to finish first, UW-La Crosse second, UW-Whitewater third, UW-Eau Claire fourth, UW-Platteville sixth, UW-Stevens Point seventh and UW-River Falls eighth..
STOUT LAST TIME OUT:
- The Blue Devils flrew through a pair of games at the Naples Shootout in Naples, Fla., downing Salisbury University, 72-63, and Husson University, 88-47.
- UW-Stout went 8-8 from the free throw line in the last minute of play to hold off Salisbury University, 72-63, Sunday at the Naples Shootout. Emily Jacques was 4-4 in the final minute from the line and Liz Oswald and Shannan Watkins each hit two charity shots. Watkins led all scorers with 18 points. - Shannan Watkins hit her first six consecutive shots - including a pair of 3-pointers - UW-Stout scored their two highest scoring quarters of the season, Emily Jacques and Haylee Yaeger each scored their first collegiate double-double and the Blue Devils went on to an 88-47 walk in the sun over Husson University Monday on their final day of the Naples Shootout at Naples Community School. Watkins went into the second half before missing a shot a. nd finished the afternoon shooting 8 of 10 from the floor with three 3-pointers and free throw to finish with a game-high 20 points. Jacques joined in the fun, scoring a collegiate-best 13 points and wrapped up a double-double with 11 rebounds. Jacques stepped out to hit her second career 3-pointer and her first since her sophomore season. Yaeger matched Jacques in both points and rebounds. Yaeger was 4 for 14 from the floor and made all five of her free throw attempts, a spot the Blue Devils excelled in today. - The early tip-off didn't slow UW-Stout down as the Blue Devils charged out to a 22-10 first quarter start and held a 46-24 halftime lead on their way to a 78-61 win over the University of Dubuque Friday on Dewey Mintz Court in Johnson Fieldhouse. With loud and supportive area elementary and middle school youngsters in attendance for a Kids Day with a 10:30 a.m. start, Katie Christopherson keyed the Blue Devils (7-2) with seven points in the first stanza. Lindsey Johnson and Alexa Neilitz came off the bench to account for seven points, Johnson with four and Neilitz three to give Stout a boost. SCOUTING SALISBURY UNIVERSITY
- Salisbury College The Sea Gulls finished last season with a 17-10 overall record and 8-6 in the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) that led to an eighth-straight CAC playoff appearance. Salisbury returns six players from last year's squad, three of whom were starters in guards Amber Onyekwere and Kylie Webb, and forward Kaylee Otlowski. Added to those returning are four new freshmen, all of whom have the opportunity to contribute right out of the gate. Stout and Salisbury, which is located in Maryland, have never met in women's basketball.

SCOUTING HUSSON UNIVERSITY
- Husson College The Eagles have won their last three games to improve their record to 4-4 overall. The Eagles are scheduled to meet Hamline University the day before they play the Blue Devils. Husson opened up a 22-point halftime lead en route to a 67-49 victory over the University of Southern Maine (5-6) on Dec. 17 in non-conference action at William P. Newman Gymnasium.. Emma Allen scored a game-high and career-high 19 points with two assists and two rebounds. Sami Ireland added 14 points and ten rebounds to record her first double-double of the season, while adding two assists, one steal and two blocks.
- Bailey Donovan leads the Eagles with double-double numbers, averaging 14.3 points per game and 11.1 rebounds. The Eagles average 64.4 points per game and give up 63.1.

SCOUTING UW-PLATTEVILLE
- While the Pioneers have fallen out of the top 25 polls after their second loss of the season, first year coach Kelly McNiff has the Pioneers playing inspired ball, ranking as high as No. 17 in the D3hoops.com Top 25 poll. The Pioneers were picked to finish sixth in a WIAC preseason poll. The Pioneers are currently averaging 69.2 points and are giving up a league-best 55.2 points. Maiah Domask is second in the WIAC in scoring at 16.9 points and tops the WIAC in rebounds at 8.7 caroms. Morgan Horstman is averaging 15.1 points, ninth in the WIAC.
- Kelly McNiff begins her first season in charge at UW-Platteville after serving as an assistant coach at UW-Oshkosh the last six years. The Pioneers bring back four starters from a season ago, including senior guard Morgan Hortsman, who led the team with 14.2 points per contest and finished second with 44 steals. - Platteville cruised past Lakeland University, 78-40, Dec. 20 on Bo Ryan Court. During Youth Night in Williams Fieldhouse, the Pioneers defeated the Muskies in their final non-conference home game of the season and teamed with Go4TheGoal Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting those battling pediatric cancer. LAST YEAR WHEN STOUT AND PLATTEVILLE MET
- UW-Platteville has a four-game conference winning streak over UW-Stout, but the Blue Devils took an 81-69 win when the teams last played in the first round of the WIAC Championship in February. The Pioneers swept Stout during both the 2017-18 and 2018-19 seasons. Platteville last season took the regular season games, 68-64, and 78-68.

- UW-Platteville shot out to an 11-4 first period lead and it only got worse for UW-Stout as the Pioneers went on to take as much as a 24 point lead in the third quarter before the Blue Devils stormed back to pull to within four points late in the game. - The third time proved to be the charm for UW-Stout as the Blue Devils avenged two regular season losses with an 81-69 win over UW-Platteville in the first round of the WIAC Championship (presented by Culvers) at Johnson Fieldhouse Feb. 20, 2019. The Pioneers had swept the two regular season games over the Blue Devils (18-8) and gave Stout a run for their money in the fourth period tonight, getting as close as five points, 72-67, with just over a minute to play. Stout put the clamps on the Pioneers, allowing them only two free throws the rest of the way. Stout went 9 for 10 from the line in the last 70 seconds of the game, with Liz Oswald and Becky Fesenmaier each downing four shots and Kyncaide Diedrich one for Stout's margin of victory. THE COACHES:
UW-STOUT:
- Hannah Iverson (27-11) is in her second year as the head coach of the Blue Devils.
- Prior to becoming the Blue Devils' head coach, Iverson was the director of player development for women's basketball at NCAA Division I UW-Green Bay, a position she began in October, 2016. As well as working directly with the team, Iverson managed the program's operating budget, coordinated team travel, co-directed summer camps and clinics and handled all aspects of team film. She assisted in the set-up of on-campus recruiting and coordinating official and unofficial visits for potential recruits. Iverson held a similar position - director of basketball operations - at the University of Illinois from 2014-16.
- Iverson spent two years at NAIA member Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa, as an assistant women's basketball coach for the 2012-14 school years. Iverson was in charge of guard development in a season where she helped the Saints to the 2014 Association of Independent Institutions tournament championship, earning Ashford a berth in the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Championship tournament, the first conference title and appearance in the NAIA D-II tournament in Saints history.
- A member of the UW-Green Bay women's basketball team from 2008-12, playing as Hannah Quilling, Iverson finished her career in the top 10 for games played as the Phoenix posted a 122-13 record over her four years. The team was 68-4 in Horizon League play and advanced to the NCAA Division I tournament four times, including one trip to the Sweet 16. She led the Horizon League in assist-to-turnover ratio in 2011-12, was sixth in steals per game and ninth in assists per game. She was also named to the Horizon League Honor Roll, earned the UW-Green Bay Chancellor's Leadership Medallion, was a two-time recipient of the UW-Green Bay University Leadership Award and the Patricia Hinckley Scholarship, and won the JoAnne Jennings Award in 2012.
PLATTEVILLE COACH KELLY MCNIFF
- Kelly McNiff (8-3) is in her first season as the Pioneer head coach. McNiff most recently served as lead assistant women's basketball coach at her alma mater, UW Oshkosh, for six seasons. During that time, the Titans racked up six 20-plus game winning seasons, five NCAA Division III Tournament appearances, six WIAC Tournament Championship appearances, and was a member of the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association 2019 Staff of the Year under the leadership of head coach Brad Fischer.
CONFERENCE: UW-Stout is a member of the eight-team Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) along with UW-Eau Claire. UW-Oshkosh, UW-La Crosse, UW-Stevens Point, UW- Platteville, UW-River Falls, and UW-Whitewater.
