THIS WEEK'S GAMES: The Blue Devils (3-9-0, 0-3-0 WIAC) will travel to Duluth, Minn., Tuesday, Oct. 15 to take on
St. Scholastica (8-6-0, 5-0-0 UMAC) at 3 p.m., then head the other direction, traveling to
UW-Platteville (1-10-2, 0-1-1 WIAC), Saturday, Oct. 19 for a 7 p.m. contest. Stout will spend all of the 2019 season on the road,. The soccer field in the Nelson Athletic Complex is under renovation, with an
artificial surface field to highlight the renovation. The Blue Devils were originally scheduled to play four conference games in Menomonie, but weather and field conditions have taken that option away.
JUST AN ODD SCHEDULE THIS YEAR: The Blue Devils are road warriors this year. Four conference games that were originally to be played in Menomonie have been moved. The Blue Devils will play UW-Stevens Point, Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. at UW-River Falls; UW-Oshkosh, Saturday, Oct. 12 has been changed to 4:30 .m. at UW-River Falls.; UW-Whitewater, Saturday, Oct. 26 has been changed to 10 a.m. at UW-Eau Claire's Bollinger Field; and UW-Eau Claire, Saturday, Nov. 2 at 1 p.m. will be at UW-Eau Claire's Bollinger Field. Stout will host Minnesota-Morris, Sunday, Oct. 27 at the UW-River Falls field. All of Stout's non-conference games are on the road. That will turn around next season when the new Stout facility is expected to be ready.
THE BLUE DEVILS THIS YEAR: An injury-depleted Blue Devils have been having difficult time getting an offense going the last several games. Stout has been shutout the last four games, and previous to that had a 1-0 win over UW-Superior. Stout has had as few has three field players left on the bench this season.
Claudia Anderson has produced some solid games this season, despite a 2-8-0 record. Anderson has a 2.57 goals against average (GAA) and had has made 110 saves so far this season. She has one shutout to her name this season and five games where she has allowed one or fewer goals. She is posting a season-best 9.91 saves per game, the most in the WIAC..
Erica Seitz made her first start and picked up her first collegiate win, downing Cornell College, 3-2, but has been out for several weeks.
Marissa Steele and
Ariel Kuchta lead the Blue Devils with two goals and an assist each and
Hannah Kirchner has two goals, but all three have been out.
Rachel Washington has one goal and two assists.
Rachel Younker has a goal and
Whitley Carothers and
Megan Richardson each have an assist. Seitz has a GAA of 2.52. |
2019 Statistics
BLUE DEVILS LAST TIME OUT: A shorthanded UW-Stout women's soccer team came up on the short end of a 3-0 decision to Hamline University Sunday. The Pipers' Cailey Schmitt scored in the 34th minute to put Hamline on the board. Schmitt scored her second goal of the game in the 49th minute of the contest. Three minutes later the Pipers' Anna Browne closed out the scoring. Stout's

Hamline Game Story and Stats | For the second straight conference game, the Blue Devils suffered a 1-0 loss, Oct. 12, this time at the hands of UW-Oshkosh, which got the only goal of the game in the 68th minutes. Anderson had 12 saves. |

Claudia Anderson (So, North Branch, Minn) returns after playing 14 games in front of the twine, recording 91 saves. Rachel Nowak (Jr, Lomira), all 6-foot-2 of her, returns to the goalie box after a year off. Nowak started two games in 2017, playing in four, earning a goals against average of 0.95. Freshman goalie
Erica Seitz (Osseo, Minn), scheduled to wear the unconventional goalie number of 50, earned all-conference honors playing in a large school conference in the Twin Cities area. |

A LOOK AT ST. SCHOLASTICA: St. Scholastica has notched four straight shut outs and sits on top of the UMAC. Morgan Friday has punched in 16 goals so far this season over 14 games, and ranks 25th in the NCAA Division III. Brea Archer has added five goals, Emily Olson three and Janelle Rouillard two goals and a team-best seven assists. Alexa Gothard has a goals against average of 1.38 and has five shutouts and two shared shutouts. She has worked 1105 of the 1260 minutes of soccer the Saints have played. |

THE SAINTS LAST TIME OUT: St. Scholastica welcomed Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) opponent, Martin Luther College, to Saints Field Oct. 11. The Saints would take their strong offensive tempo and make the day hard by bombarding the Knights defense with 24 shots on the day in comparison to Martin Luther's one total shot. St. Scholastica would score early and not look back winning the game 3-0. The Saints got goals from Morgan Friday, Brea Archer and Mackenzie Nelson. |

THE LAST TIME ST. SCHOLASTICA AND STOUT MET: The Saints took a 2-1 overtime win to open the 2016 season. UW-Stout scored early, but St. Scholastica scored the equalizer 10 minutes later and eventually scored the game winning goal into overtime to down the Blue Devils, 2-1, in the season opener for both teams Friday on the campus of Concordia-Moorhead.. |

THE SERIES: The Blue Devils lead the series, 6-2-0.
A LOOK AT UW-PLATTEVILLE: Emma Willard, Macie Alexa, Taylor Gamble, Samantha Hutton and Amy Lueder have each scored one goal apiece for the Pioneers. Alyssa Morroquin has a team-high two assists. Kathryn Flaherty has nearly 800 minutes in the net and has a GAA of 1.60. Marian Kennedy has played just over 400 minutes and has a GAA of 1.29. The Pioneers' lone win was a 1-0 win over St. Norbert, Sept. 14, and the Pioneers posted a 1-1 tie with UW-River Falls, Oct. 5. The Pioneers have not allowed more than three goals in a single game this season. |

THE PIONEERS LAST TIME OUT: Platteville dropped its second WIAC competition 1-0 at UW-Eau Claire, Oct. 12. Tessa Grywalsky recorded the game's lone goal at the 22:20 mark for the Blugolds. Platteville junior goal keeper Mariah Kennedy recorded eight saves in 90 minutes. Overall UW-Eau Claire held the advantage on shots 16-0 with nine on goal and an advantage on corner kicks 2-0. Ariel Kuchta was selected as the UW-Stout/Toppers Athlete of the Week Sept. 23 after scoring a goal and an assist in Stout's 3-2 win over Cornell College.

UW-STOUT COACH RYAN RAUFUS: Coach
Ryan Raufus (58-81-19) is in his ninth year as the head coach of the Blue Devils. Raufus played his college ball at Springfield College in Massachusetts and came to Stout after coaching at La Crosse Logan High School and La Crescent, Minn., High School.
TWENTY-FOUR YEARS OF BLUE DEVIL SOCCER: After many years as a club sport, UW-Stout became the ninth WIAC team to join the varsity ranks during the 1995 season. The Blue Devils took their lumps to open the season, making their premiere by hosting Augsburg College, Sept. 10, in a 7-0 loss. Stout opened the conference season three days later at Nelson Field, hosting perennial conference powerhouse UW-Stevens Point, dropping a 6-0 decision. The Blue Devils finally broke onto the scoreboard in their third game. While hosting UW-Platteville, Sept. 17, Kari Stapleton scored in the 70th minute on an assist from Jenny Tyson in a 2-1 loss. The Blue Devils would get their first-ever win, a 3-0 decision at Martin Luther College, Sept. 23, collecting goals from Amie Frasier, Tyson and Joann Sognesand. Defender Andrea Schroeder was a second team all-conference selection in 1995, then was selected to the first team in 1996. Members of that first 1995 team include: April Amys, Beeta Bastani, Tammy Beuch, Carrie Blaska, Jen Chapple, Michelle Coon, Amie Frasier, Aimee Grimm, Jamie Jester, Julie Kremer, Dorian Loberg, Amy Lyons, Kristin Manion, Anglea McDowell, Andrea Schroeder, Joann Sognesand, Kari Stapleton, Jenny Tyson, Alisa Zimmerman. Lisa Petruccelli was the Blue Devils first coach, leading the team from 1995-98, followed by Dave Morris (1999-2005), Meagan Frank (2006-10) and
