A LOOK AT UW-STOUT:
- Bailey Diersen leads the Blue Devils in scoring with an 17.4 per game average and is second in the WIAC. Diersen has scored in double digits in 14 of the 18 games she has played this year and seven times has scored 20 or more points in a game. The senior guard leads the team and is second in the WIAC in steals with 60, swiping 10 against Martin Luther College, one short of the 20-year-old school record of 11, notching her first double-double (19 pts, 10 steals) of the season. Diersen had seven steals against UW-Whitewater and seven against Berea. Diersen is averaging a league-best 3.44 steals per game, 24th in the NCAA Division III. Eleven times this season, Diersen has had three or more steals in a game.Â
- Kyncaide Diedrich is currently averaging 15.8 points per contest, second on the team and third in the WIAC. In conference games only, Diedrich is averaging 17.8 points per game, second in the WIAC.  Diedrich recorded her third double-double of the season Jan. 16 against UW-River Falls. Previously, Diedrich recorded two double-doubles this season, both with 19 points and 10 rebounds, against St. Olaf College and Berea College. Diedrich has scored in double figures in 16 games and has scored 20 or more points this season four times. Diedrich was named the MVP at the North Park University tournament, tossing in 21 points in a win over Albion College, then 19 points against Berea College.  Diedrich was selected as the UW-Stout/Toppers Athlete of the Week, as the WIAC Athlete of the Week and to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week. She is second in the league in assists, averaging 3.75. She leads the team in rebounds with 6.6, seventh in the WIAC.Â
- Amber Fabeck has turned her game up a couple of notches this season and has shown a penchant for the 3-point shot. In a 10-point win over UW-Whitewater, Fabeck stepped out from underneath the basket and drained four consecutive 3-point shots and finished the game with a career-high 24 points. Twice this season Fabeck has scored 22 points. Fabeck collected her first career double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds against Albion College. Fabeck is averaging 12.8 points and 5.0 rebounds. Fabeck is sixth in the WIAC in blocked shots with 16.
- Within minutes of each other, both Diedrich and Diersen surpassed 1000 career points in the game at UW-Superior. Diersen now has 1145 points and is currently seventh on the UW-Stout all-time scoring list. Diedrich now has 1154 career points and is ninth on the all-time list. Diedrich became the 11th Blue Devil women's basketball player to break 1000 career points and Diersen became the 12th player to reach the milestone. Here are the Top 10 Blue Devil scorers: 1. - Shannan Watkins has returned to the floor after missing more than a season and a half due to injury. The guard from Hoover, Ala., missed one game this season, but bounced back to score a season-high 12 points against Crown. Watkins is averaging 8.3 points and 2.9Â rebounds. Watkins scored 11 points in the season opener and has scored in double digits in eight games.Â
- Diersen (28), Diedrich (23), Fabeck (18) and Watkins (11) scored all 80 points in Stout's first loss of the season at UW-Superior, Dec. 30. The 86-80 loss to Superior marked the second-most points the Blue Devils have scored this season (83 vs. Crown) and by far the most points they have given up. The previous number of pints given up was 66 points the previous outing to St.Scholastica (W 78-66).
- Liz Oswald has started all 20 games at point guard and broke out for a career-best 22 points against Crown. Oswald's previous career scoring high was nine points, a mark she hit early in the season against Hamline University. This season, she is averaging 6.8 points and a team-high 32.7 minutes played, third in the WIAC.Â
- Carolyn Feddema has started all 20 games this season and is averaging 3.7 rebounds per contest and scored a season-high 10 points against UW-Platteville in early January. Feddema started 19 games during her sophomore season.
- Six players - Diedrich, Fabeck, Oswald, Feddema, Becky Fesenmaier and LIzzy Olsem - have played in all 19 games. Diedrich, Fabeck, Oswald and Feddema have started all 19. With the exception of two games, the Blue Devils have had the same starting line-up and have had only two starting line-up combinations.Â
- As a team, the Blue Devils are averaging 70.4 points and giving up 62.2. Stout's biggest offensive outburst this year came against Crown in an 83-40 win. Stout lowest output was in a loss to UW-Oshkosh, 81-54, on Jan. 5.Â
- The Blue Devils are outscoring their opponents in every quarter. The final two quarters are the teams' strongest quarters. Stout is outscoring their opponents 305-265 (15.3-13.3) in the opening quarter, 333-298 (16.7-14.9) in the second quarter, 362-346 (18.1-17.3) in the third. and 385-307 (19.3-15.4) in the final quarter . Stout was outscored 14-8 in their only overtime period.Â
- Bailey Diersen had 10 steals against Martin Luther, one short of Cindy Hovet's 1991 school record of 11, and seven against Berea College and UW-Whitewater. Stout has nearly doubled up their opponents in steals, nabbing 227 to their opponents' 125. Â
- While the Blue Devils saw their winning streak stop at 10 games in the end of December, they are still off to one of the best starts in school history. The 1995-96 team season opened the year at 9-0. Stout's best record to start the season was 13-0 to open the 1992-93 season. The 10-game winning streak also matched a mid-season 10-game winning streak during the 2005-06 season. With 14 wins, the Blue Devils are assured of at least a .500 season for the first time since the 2009-10 season.Â

CONFERENCE STANDINGS:
- The Blue Devils were projected to finish seventh in the WIAC according to a WIAC preseason poll by conference coaches and sports information directors. UW-Whitewater was picked to finish first, UW-Eau Claire second, UW-Oshkosh third, UW-La Crosse fourth, UW-Stevens Point fifth, UW-River Falls sixth and UW-Platteville eighth. The Blue Devils are currently in a tie for fourth place.
STOUT LAST TIME OUT:
- UW-Stout led 16-14 at the end of the first period, but jumped all over UW-River Falls by outscoring the Falcons 23-3 in the second period to take a 39-17 halftime lead on their way to a 76-55 win Thursday. The Blue Devils' Kyncaide Diedrich scored 11 points in the first period, but Bailey Diersen and Amber Fabeckcombined for 13 points to power Stout's second quarter. Fabeck tossed in seven second period points and Diersen six. Lizzy Olsem scored four point in the quarter.  Stout built up as much as a 25 point lead midway through the fourth quarter as the Blue Devils were able to play much of their bench. Diedrich led all scorers with 18 points. - The Blue Devils lost two consecutive games this week for the first time all season, falling at UW-Stevens Point,77-69, Jan. 23, and 78-68 to UW-Platteville, Jan. 26.Â
- UW-Platteville shot out to an 11-4 first period lead and it only got worse for UW-Stout as the Pioneers went on to take as much as a 24 point lead in the third quarter before the Blue Devils stormed back to pull to within four points late in the game. - When UW-Stout defeated UW-Eau Claire at Zorn Arena five days earlier, it looked like the Blue Devils had perhaps shaken off their road demons. SCOUTING UW-RIVER FALLS
- The Falcons have four players scoring eight points or more, led by Jenna Zeman with 9.7 points. Taylor Paulsrud is averaging 9.6 points, Crystal Pearson 8.6 and Brianna Leahy 8.3. Pearson has a free throw percentage of 85.2 (52-61), second in the league. Leahy leads the team in rebounds with 7.1 boards, good for seventh in the WIAC, and is the conference leader in blocked shots with 27.  As a team, the Falcons are averaging 57.9 points and give up 64.8.  | 2018-19 Statistics
THE FALCONS LAST TIME OUT
- Â UW-River Falls dropped their fifth-straight WIAC game on Saturday afternoon against no. 12 ranked UW-Oshkosh. The Falcons took early 5-0 and 12-6 leads in the first quarter, but their second half shooting and turnovers cost them in a 65-45 loss. After shooting 40 percent from the field and beyond the arc in the first half, the Falcons only shot 3-16 in the second half and 0-8 on three's, also committing 13 of their 22 turnovers in the final two quarters. |Â Game Story and Statistics
- The Falcons led for almost all of the first quarter and managed to tie the game up at halftime against the 15-2 UW-La Crosse Eagles on Wednesday night at Page Arena. WHEN STOUT AND RIVER FALLS LAST MET
- UW-Stout held a 44-26 halftime lead, but UW-River Falls held Stout scoreless for the first six minutes of the third quarter, then cut Stout's lead to four points, 48-44, with 1:31 left in the period, but the Blue Devils hung on for a 12-point 76-64 win over the Falcons Wednesday on Dewey Mintz Court in Johnson Fieldhouse. River Falls (7-9, 1-4 WIAC) forced seven Stout turnovers in the third quarter and outscored Stout, 18-10, in the period. The Falcons' Jenna Zeman hit two 3-pointers in the third period, but Stout's Liz Oswald hit three 3-pointer in the final four minutes of the third to hold off the Falcon charge and Stout (13-3, 3-2 WIAC) ran up a 54-44 lead heading into the fourth. The Falcons would get the score to as close as six points three minutes into the fourth quarter. The Falcons' Crystal Pearson scored 10 points in the fourth and Stout's Oswald and Kyncaide Diedricheach added seven final period points and Shannan Watkins added six points. The first half belonged to the Blue Devils as Stout came out of the gates to jump to a 27-11 first quarter lead and held as much as a 19 point lead early in the second quarter.  Diedrich scored her third double-double of the season, finishing with 18 points and 12 rebounds. SCOUTING UW-OSHKOSH
- The Titans are ranked 12th in the latest D3hoops.com Top 25 poll and currently have a two-game lead in the WIAC. The Titans have stingiest defense in the WIAC, allowing only 46.1 points per game, and is third in the NCAA Division III. They are third in the league in scoring, putting in 66.4 points The Titans score by committee and have no players averaging in double figures. Melanie Schneider leads the way with 9.7 points. Isabella Samuels is tossing in 8.4 points and Chloe Pustina, 7.2. Ten different players have led the team in scoring this season, and no one has scored more than 18 points this season.Â

- Leah Porath and Melanie Schneider paced five UW-Oshkosh double-digit scorers with 11 points apiece as the nationally ranked Titans pulled away for a 65-45 women's basketball victory over UW-River Falls on Saturday (Jan. 26) in Kolf Sports Center. | Game Story and Statistics.

- UW-Oshkosh held UW-Stout to their lowest point total of the season as the Titans ran past the Blue Devils, 81-54, Saturday in a WIAC contest at Kolf Sports Center. THE COACHES:
UW-STOUT:
- Hannah Iverson (15-5) is in her first year as the head coach of the Blue Devils.
- Prior to becoming the Blue Devils' head coach, Iverson was the director of player development for women's basketball at NCAA Division I UW-Green Bay, a position she began in October, 2016. As well as working directly with the team, Iverson managed the program's operating budget, coordinated team travel, co-directed summer camps and clinics and handled all aspects of team film. She assisted in the set-up of on-campus recruiting and coordinating official and unofficial visits for potential recruits. Iverson held a similar position - director of basketball operations - at the University of Illinois from 2014-16.
- Iverson spent two years at NAIA member Ashford University in Clinton, Iowa, as an assistant women's basketball coach for the 2012-14 school years. Iverson was in charge of guard development in a season where she helped the Saints to the 2014 Association of Independent Institutions tournament championship, earning Ashford a berth in the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Championship tournament, the first conference title and appearance in the NAIA D-II tournament in Saints history.
- A member of the UW-Green Bay women's basketball team from 2008-12, playing as Hannah Quilling, Iverson finished her career in the top 10 for games played as the Phoenix posted a 122-13 record over her four years. The team was 68-4 in Horizon League play and advanced to the NCAA Division I tournament four times, including one trip to the Sweet 16. She led the Horizon League in assist-to-turnover ratio in 2011-12, was sixth in steals per game and ninth in assists per game. She was also named to the Horizon League Honor Roll, earned the UW-Green Bay Chancellor's Leadership Medallion, was a two-time recipient of the UW-Green Bay University Leadership Award and the Patricia Hinckley Scholarship, and won the JoAnne Jennings Award in 2012.

UW-RIVER FALLS
- Derek Staley (7-12, 1st) is in his first season with the women's basketball coaching staff in 2017-18. Prior to joining the Falcons, Staley was the head coach at UW-Marathon County in Wausau Wis. Under his guidance he led the Huskies to a 17-3 record and a Wisconsin Collegiate Conference (WCC) State runner-up finish in the 2016-17 season. While with the Huskies he coached three athletes to the WCC All-Conference team. In 2016, he was also the head coach of the 14U Wisconsin Streak AAU boy's basketball team and the summer league director at UW-Marathon County. As the director, he coordinated all aspects of the summer basketball league. Staley graduated from UW-River Falls in 2014 with a degree in Economics. He then obtained his Masters of Arts in Sports Management from Concordia University-St. Paul in June 2017.Â
UW-OSHKOSH:
- Brad Fischer restored the UW-Oshkosh women's basketball winning tradition in short order. In June 2012, Fischer inherited a program that had won 11 WIAC championships and one national title, but had no winning seasons and a 52-99 record from 2007-12. Fischer, who owns a 156-35 record in his six-plus years at UW-Oshkosh, has guided the Titans to the NCAA Division III Championship four of the past five seasons. Under Fischer's guidance UW-Oshkosh was one of eight Division III women's programs to win at least one game at each of the four NCAA postseasons between 2014-17 as the Titans reached the third round in 2014 and 2017 and advanced to the second round in 2015 and 2016. Fischer earned 2014 Central Region Coach of the Year honors from D3hoops.com as well as WIAC Coach of the Year plaudits in 2013 and 2017. Fischer helped UW-Oshkosh win the 2017 WIAC regular season title in addition to three consecutive league tournament championships from 2014-16.
CONFERENCE:Â UW-Stout is a member of the eight-team Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) along with UW-Eau Claire. UW-Oshkosh, UW-La Crosse, UW-Stevens Point, UW- Platteville, UW-River Falls, and UW-Whitewater.
