Blue Devils close out season, Diedrich has big scoring night

OSHKOSH (February 17, 2018) - Kyncaide Diedrich scored 25 points and UW-Stout shot better, percentage-wise, then UW-Oshkosh, but the Titans simply had more firepower and gave the Blue Devils a 71-55 season-ending loss Saturday night at Kolf Sports Center.

Diedrich banked in 10-of-19 shots, tossing in a single 3-pointer and made 4-of-6 free throws to lead all scorers. The Blue Devils (7-18, 0-14 WIAC) shot 46.8 percent (22-47) from the floor while the Titans (19-5, 9-5 WIAC), who tied for second in the WIAC with UW-La Crosse and UW-Eau Claire, shot 40.0 percent (28-70). The Titans were bumped to the third seed in the tournament that begins next week.

The Titans had a balance attack with four players in double digits led by Eliza Campbell's 16 points. Madeline Staples added 13, Chloe Pustina 11 and Isabella Samuels 10.

Amber Fabeck scored 12 points for Stout, stepping outside to hit a pair of 3-pointers.

Oshkosh outrebounded Stout, 42-28, with Campbell pulling down nine boards. Diedrich and Anna Brown led Stout with six rebounds each.

The Titans will host UW-River Falls, Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. in the tournament. UW-Stevens Point will be at UW-Eau Claire the same night. UW-Whitewater earned the top seed and UW-La Crosse the second seed.
