A LOOK AT UW-STOUT:
- The last time Stout started the season at 7-0 was during the 1995-96 season when the Blue Devils opened the year with nine straight wins. The most wins to open a season came during the 1992-93 year when Stout won their first 13 games.
- Bailey Diersen leads the Blue Devils in scoring with a 16.8 per game average and is second in the WIAC. Diersen has scored in double digits in five of the six games she has played this year. Diersen has a free throw percentage of .829, making 29 of 35 - leading the team in attempts - and has made her last 13 attempts, going back to the Hamline game, Nov. 20. The senior guard leads the team in steals with 24, nabbing 10 against Martin Luther, one short of the school individual game record.
- Amber Fabeck has had a solid start for the Blue Devils. After scoring seven points in the season opener, the 6-3 post player poured in a career-best 22 points against St. Catherine, then added 13 points in the rematch with St. Olaf. Fabeck collected her first career double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds against Albion College. Fabeck is averaging 12.6 points and 7.3 rebounds.
- Kyncaide Diedrich raised her scoring average by more than three points over the last two games at the North Park University tournamen, a weekend she was named the tournament MVP. Diedrich tossed in 21 points in a win over Albion College, then collected her second double-double of the season in the championship game against Berea College, scoring 19 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Diedrich was selected as the UW-Stout/Toppers Athlete of the Week, as the WIAC Athlete of the Week and to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week. Diedrich is averaging 14.5 points, third in the WIAC and is pulling down 7.0 rebounds, tied with Fabeck for fifth in the WIAC. She is second in the league in assists, averaging 4.6. She is setting the net on fire at the free throw line, missing only two shots in 25 attempts, shooting at a 92.0 percentage. She has made 16 consecutive free throws stretching back to the St. Olaf game, Nov. 17.
- Both Diedrich and Diersen have the 1000-point marker within reach. Diedrich currently has 957 career points and Diersen 941.
- Shannan Watkins has returned to the floor after missing more than a season and a half due to injury. The guard from Hoover, Ala., is averaging 5.5 points and 2.3 rebounds. Watkins scored 11 points in the season opener against St. Olaf.
- Liz Oswald has started all seven games and has showed some staying power, leading the team minutes played with 34.1, second in the WIAC. Oswald is averaging 5.7 points and has popped in six 3-pointers.
- Carolyn Feddema is doubling her career averaging in rebounds, pulling down 5.1 per game. Coming into the season, the senior, who was recently featured in the WIAC's Culver's Spotlight, was averaging 2.6 boards per contest. Feddema has started all three games. She started 19 games during her sophomore season.
- As a team, the Blue Devils are averaging 66.1 points and giving up 52.1.
- Not surprisingly with seven wins under their belt, the Blue Devils are outscoring their opponents in every quarter. But the fourth quarter has been their strongest quarter, outscoring their opponents by an average of 18.7-14.8. Stout is outscoring their opponents 13.6-11.3 in the first quarter.
