Kelch grabs two wins as Blue Devils edged

Box Score UW-Oshkosh 6, UW-Stout 3

MENOMONIE (October 12, 2018) - UW-Stout's Gabe Kelch (Sr, Menomonie) took wins at No. 4 singles and No. 2 doubles, but UW-Oshkosh defeated the Blue Devils, 6-3, Friday at the UW-Stout South Courts in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) match-up.
 
Kelch teamed with Kennedy Kleist (So, Eau Claire) at No. 2 doubles for an 8-4 win over Hannah Peters and Jenna Peterson, then downed Monica Micoliczyk at No. 4 singles, 7-6, 6-3.
 
Mariah Kent (Fr, Eau Claire) came back to win at No. 5 singles over Ashlee Polena, taking the first set, 6-4, but dropping a tight second set, 7-5. Kent bounced back for a 10-7 win and the match.
 
Kent partnered with Kayla Chamberlain at No. 3 doubles, falling in a tight match, 8-6, to Polena and Taylor Johnson.
 
Kleist nearly forced a third and deciding set at No. 3 singles. After getting blanked 6-0 in the opening set, Kleist charged back to extend the second set before dropping the set, 7-5 to Michelle Spicer.

At No. 1 singles, Linsey Thisius lost a 6-0, 6-0, decision to Alyssa Leffler. Annie Sandry last at No. 2 singles, 6-1, 6-3, to Hannah Peters. Elizabeth Wahlquist lost a 6-3, 6-1, match to Ireland Slattery at No. 6 singles. Thisius and Sandry lost at No. 1 doubles to Leffler and Spicer.

Stout will host UW-Whitewater, Saturday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m. to close out the regular season. The WIAC Tennis Championship is Oct. 20-21 in Madison
