2016-17 Statistics
CONFERENCE STANDINGS: The Blue Devils are projected to finish sixth in the WIAC. Last season, the Blue Devils were the highest scoring offense in the WIAC, averaging 69.4 points per game. They also were second in the WIAC in rebounds per game, with 41.2 per game. The Blue Devils look to improve on these even more this season and will look to their six returners to take them there.
STOUT LAST TIME OUT: The Blue Devils could not get things going after halftime, losing a halftime lead and getting outscored 22-12 in the third quarter on their way to a 68-63 loss Tuesday. Stout pulled to within four points with three minutes left in the third, but the Yellowjackets held a 45-38 lead at the end of the third. The Yellowjackets kept Stout with that seven to nine point differential as Stout was forced to foul and Superior made 12-of-18 free throws in the last couple minutes of the game.

SCOUTING UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE: Just two years removed from an Iowa Conference regular-season championship (2014-15), Dubuque has become one of the league's difficult opponents, especially on its renovated homecourt. A mix of veteran firepower and a big freshman class will continue that trend. The firepower starts with guard Emily Brinker, who last season went off for 41 points and 14 rebounds in an overtime loss to Loras College last January. She led the team in scoring last year with16.1 ppg and this year is averaging a team-best 14.4 points. Guard Abbey Meyer returns for her junior season, after averaging 13.4 ppg and this year is averaging 10.3 points. Brinker (.900), Meyer .841) and Madison Boer (.870) can be deadly at the line, all three shooting 84 percent or better and all three within the IIAC top five. The Spartans have five players listed at six feet or more, but four are freshmen. The Spartans are coached by former UW-Stout assistant coach Mark Noll and assisted by Kelsey (Duoss) Steinhagen, a former Blue Devil All-American. | Statistics
SPARTANS LAST TIME OUT: The Spartans fell behind early to Central College and could not quite crawl their way back into it, losing to the Dutch, 64-51, Wednesday in Pella, Iowa. Although no one scored more than seven points for UD, 12 different Spartans got into the scoring column. Abbey Meyer led UD with seven points, while Emily Brinker, Cece Pope, Kalyn Theill and T'Nauzhae Robinson all had six points on the night. UD shot 18-60 from the field on Wednesday night for 30 percent and 12-21 from the free throw line. The Spartans did have assists on 10 of those 18 field goals made. Lexi Daniels and Kia Dwight both had two assists, with six other Spartans recording one assist. On the defensive side, the Spartans did force the Dutch into 28 turnovers. Emily Brinker had three of UD's eight steals to go along with her six points, while Kia Dwight also had a hand in forcing those 28 turnovers by collecting two steals. UD also managed to block four shots, two of which came from Morgan Boer. | Game Story and Statistics
LAST TIME STOUT AND DUBUQUE MET: Stout suffered a three-point loss last time they met Dubuque. On the road the Blue Devils fell 79-76 after a Dubuque fourth quarter rally. Stout had four players in double digits, including now coach Kyleigh Hebert, who scored 17 to lead the Blue Devils. Bailey Diersen and Shannan Watkins each tossed in 11 points for Stout and Sarah Schoch finished with 10. The Spartans got a game-high 19 points and 12 rebounds from Braana Steen. Abby Meyer added 14 points and Emily Brinker also recorded a double-double, dropping in 11 points and 10 rebounds.
