SCOUTING HAMLINE: The Pipers are off to their best start in nine seasons. They are 2-0 on the season, beating Northwestern and North Central in back-to-back games that they beat their opponents by 10+ points. Aliana Quartanta is the leading scorer for the Pipers, the Eau Claire native averages 16.0 points per game. The team hasn't shot their best on the season, but has used good defense as a focal point to win games. The Pipers have forced 19.5 turnovers a game, but have also dished the ball well for 37 assists in two games. |
Statistics
PIPERS LAST TIME OUT: Chloe Graves had every reason to be tired Saturday afternoon at Northwestern. After all, she had played 30 minutes the night before in the Pipers' season-opening win at North Central. But the inexhaustible senior showed why she led the MIAC in Minutes Played (and productive ones at that) in Hamline's 66-56 win Saturday that gave the Piper women hoopsters a 2-0 start for the first time since the 2008-09 season. Graves, who has now scored 900 points in her Hamline career, unleashed a game high 35 minutes and poured in 20 points -- including five three-pointers -- adding five rebounds, three assists and a steal as HU took command. |

SCOUTING ST. CATHERINE: The WIldcats are 2-1 on the season, beating the familiar UW-Eau Claire, while also making a trip to New York City to take a win from Baruch College in the NYU Tip Off Tournament. WILDCATS LAST TIME OUT: For junior point guard Audra Clark, a Sunday in New York could not have gone any better. Just one day after the St. Catherine University basketball team was unable to come up with a victory against UMASS-Boston, the Wildcats bounced back to earn their second win of the season over Baruch College. Thanks to a career day from Clark, St. Kate's overcame a 40-39 deficit to beat the Bearcats 94-81 in its second came of the New York University Tipoff Tournament. |
