2015-16 StatisticsA UW-STOUT PREVIEW: UW-Stout has six letterwinners back from a year ago and a roster that includes four seniors, four juniors, three sophomores and seven freshmen - these totals include three transfers (one sophomore, one junior, one senior). Three of the top-five scorers return, including junior forward
Jenna Goldsmith, who led the WIAC with a .542 field goal percentage and topped the team with 12.0 points per contest. Senior guard
Kyleigh Hebert contributed 9.0 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. The Blue Devils will play three of their first eight games at home - all three in November.
Jenna Goldsmith earned All-WIAC honors last season and averaged 12 points per game and was second on the team in rebounds with 6.0 rebounds. Goldsmith scored a career-high 21 points against UW-Oshkosh.
Kyleigh Hebert has been a regular since transferring to Stout midway through her freshman year and last season led the team in assists and averaged 9.0 points. Hebert will work some at the point, but will predominately be out on the wing.

2014-15 StatisticsSTOUT LAST TIME OUT: UW-Stout jumped out to a big lead early running out to a 26-9 lead in the first quarter and the Blue Devils went on to an 87-63 win at St. Scholastica Tuesday. The Blue Devils not only scored a season-best 87 points, shooting 54.3 percent from the floor in the first half to take a 47-27 halftime lead, Stout's defense was running on all cylinders and the full court pressure forced 27 turnovers. |
Story and Box ScoreSCOUTING PENN STATE-BEHREND: Sophomore Dani Reinwald leads the Lions with a 13.3 points per game average, followed by Ali Goetz with a 10.6 average. Behrend holds a 45.6-37.0 advantage in rebounds, with Reinwald collecting 13.0 boards, ranking 17th in the NCAA Division III. Freshman Heidi Langwoldt is averaging 6.3 rebounds. Lions StatisticsTHE LIONS LAST TIME OUT: Penn State Behrend had three players in double figures to defeat Penn State Altoona 63-43 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action Dec. 12. The Lions closed out their last conference game of 2015 with a win thanks to holding the Altoona Lions to just 15 points in the first half and getting a double-double from Dani Reinwald. Reinwald tallied a game-high 17 points and a season-best 18 boards. Rachael Razzano matched a career-high with 11 points and Erika Woll added 10 points. |

LAST TIME STOUT AND ST. MARY'S MET: Becca Smith and
Katie Nickles came off the bench to lead UW-Stout in scoring, but the Blue Devils fell to 23rd-ranked St. Mary's University, 68-54, Nov. 21, 2014 . Nickles scored a career-high 12 points to lead Stout, stepping outside the post to pop in four 3-poiinters. Smith finished with 11 points, getting the bulk of her points at the line, draining 7-of-8 charity shots. |
Game Story and StatisticsJOINING THE MIAC?: When the Blue Devils play St. Mary's University, it will mark the final regular season game with a member of the MIAC. With the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) freeing up their schedule to allow for more non-conference games, and UW-Superior leaving the WIAC, freeing up two game spots, it became obvious the Stout would play more MIAC schools in the future. Stout will face off against six MIAC schools - St. Benedict, Gustavus Adolphus, Augsburg College, Hamline University, St. Catherine and St. Mary's University - that's half of the 12 MIAC women's basketball teams.

THE COACHES: UW-Stout: Mark Thomas (452-298) is in his 28th year as the coach of the Blue Devils. Thomas has led his teams to 10 national playoff berths, nine times in the NCAA. A six-time WIAC coach of the year, the Blue Devils have won five conference titles and four conference tournament championships under Thomas' tutelage. His teams have twice been to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament. Thomas is the first WIAC coach to have reached 400 career wins. Thomas also has the most wins of any Stout basketball coach, either men's or women's. Dwain Mintz coached the men's basketball program for 27 years and compiled a 385-280 record.
St. Mary's: Brent Pollari is in his first year as the head coach of the Cardinals.
THE ROAD TO 400 WINS:
Mark Thomas' first collegiate win came the second game of his first season when his Blue Devils, which had won only two games over the previous two years, defeated Mt. Senario, 73-44, in November, 1987. The wins came more often after that. Thomas got his 50th win, Feb. 28, 1991, 71-60, over Cardinal Stritch. The 100th win came Jan. 10, 1994, an 80-59 win over UM-Morris. No. 200 came at UW-River Falls, a 78-74 victory on Jan. 5, 2000. Thomas' 300th win came in overtime, a 76-68 decision over UW-Stevens Point, Jan. 29, 2005. Thomas' 400th win came at UW-Stevens Point, a 90-76 decision, Feb. 3, 2010.
CONFERENCES: UW-Stout is a member of the nine-team Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) along with UW-Eau Claire. UW-Oshkosh, UW-La Crosse, UW-Stevens Point, UW- Platteville, UW-River Falls, and UW-Whitewater. Superior left the WIAC after last season.
