A LOOK AT THE BLUE DEVILS: UW-Stout returns eight of its top-10 scorers from last year, including junior guard
Brett Ahsenmacher who was second on the team with 8.9 points per contest. The roster includes two seniors, seven juniors, seven sophomores and 10 freshmen - of the newcomers, four are transfers. Due to injuries last season, the Blue Devils had only three players that participated in all 25 games, and utilized 12 different starting lineups. UW-Stout will play just four of its first 10 games at Johnson Fieldhouse. The Blue Devils will look to shake off a 3-22 season.
Until Hank and
Reggie Kujak join the squad at the conclusion of the football season, junior guard
Brett Ahsenmacher brings the most experience to the Blue Devils. Ahsenmacher has played in 50-of-52 games over his career, and started 22 of the 24 games he played in last year. Ahsenmacher averaged 8.9 points last season and scored a career-best 22 points against John Carroll University last season. Ahsenmacher was second on the team in assists and led the team in in 3-pointers made.
Jalen Patterson showed flashes last season, finishing the year averaging 6.8 points. Patterson's 13 blocked shots averaged 0.62 per contest and ranked sixth in the WIAC...guard
John Keefe exploded for 30 points early in the season against Bethany Lutheran and finsihed the season averaging 6.5 points.
John Lahti saw considerable time in the paint, starting 14 games during his freshman season. Lahti,
Sam Ortmann and
Isaac Elliott are the only three players last season to have seen action in all 25 games. Stout last season lost seven conference games by seven points or less. |
2014-15 StatisticsBLUE DEVILS LAST TIME OUT: The University of Minnesota Crookston found their range against UW-Stout, and their range was long distance as the Golden Eagles connected on 13 3-pointers on their way to a 74-51 win over the Blue Devils Nov. 14 at Johnson Fieldhouse. The NCAA Division II Golden Eagles hit on 13-of-25 long range shots, shooting.520 from beyond the arc. For the game, Crookston hit 26-of-49 shots (.531). |
Crookston Story and Box Score SCOUTING MONMOUTH COLLEGE: The Scots finished last season at 16-8 overall, 13-5 in Midwest Conference action. The 2015-16 squad accumulated the most wins since the 1991season.he Scots return a pair of all-conference players in 6-foot-5 senior post Andrew Mathison (and sophomore guard Will Jones. Mathison, who became the program's first D3Hoops.com All-Region honoree, led the Scots with 15.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Jones was second on the team in both categories (14.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg) as the Scots recorded their most wins since 1995. Mathison and Jones led the team in scoring in all but one of the team's first 15 games last season. |

SCOUTING WARTBURG COLLEGE: . Junior Jordan Cannon was the Knights' MVP last season, earning first team all conference honors. Cannon was eighth in the conference in scoring (16.1) and sixth in 3-pointers last season. Cannon tops all returners in rebounds, averaging 4.3. Nick Webber averaged 11.8 points and pulled down 4.1 rebounds, while Nate Woeste averaged 8.9 points as a freshman. Logan Pitz was the team's most valuable defender honors. The Knights finished 15-13 overall, 6-8 in the IIAC. |
Knights StatisticsWARTBURG LAST TIME OUT: Wartburg defeated Grinnell 105-91 Tuesday night. This was the first loss of the season for the Pioneers and also snapped their four-game winning streak against the Knights. Five Wartburg players finished in double digits and were led by 16 from sophomore Sam Stoveall . Classmate Nate Woeste and junior Nick Webber had 15 points, sophomore Bo Bader had 14 and junior Lenart Kalen tallied 10. Grinnell led 58-51 at halftime, but Wartburg outscored them 54-33 in the second frame to earn the win. |

Jarvis Ragland (Sr, Milwaukee) scored a career-high 24 points and the Blue Devils held a double digit lead the entire second half on the way to an 84-69 over the Wartburg College Knights in game four of the UW-Stout Thanksgiving Turkey Shootout last season. Ragland led five Stout players in double figures. During the 2011-12 season, the Blue Devils defeated Wartburg, 68-52, in the championship game of the Wartburg tournament. |

VARSITY RESERVE: The Blue Devils have a number of varsity reserve games on their schedule. Stout defeated UW-Barron County, 92-74, Nov. 17. The Blue Devils will take on UW-Superior (Dec. 1), St. Mary's (Dec. 3, Jan. 28), and UW-Eau Claire (Jan. 13, Jan. 30).
THE COACHES: UW-Stout: Eddie Andrist (186-200 at Stout, 436-391 overall) is in his 15th year as the coach of the Blue Devils, and his 26th overall in the collegiate ranks. Andrist led the Blue Devils to their first NCAA Division III appearance five seasons ago when Stout advanced to the second round. Andrist coached at Mount Senario for 11 seasons and won three national championships. Andrist spent two stints coaching international basketball, working with the country of Qatar.
Monmouth College: Todd Skrivseth is in his fifth season and Skrivseth has returned the Scots to a force in the Midwest Conference. The 2014-15 team surged to a 16-8 record and finished second in the league while completing a 9-1/2 game turnaround from the previous season to qualify for the four-team conference championships. It was the program's first tournament appearance in 16 years.
Emmaus Bible:
Luke Wilkerson is in his second year as the head men's basketball coach at Emmaus and is also the school's athletic director.
Wartburg College:
Dick Peth, enters his 19th year as head coach of the Wartburg men's basketball program. He led the Knights to back-to-back Iowa Conference championships in 2004-05 and 2005-06 and a record-setting fifth consecutive season of 20-plus wins in 2004-05.
CONFERENCES: Stout is a member of the nine team Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) along with UW-La Crosse, UW-Eau Claire, UW-Stevens Point, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Platteville, UW-Whitewater and UW-River Falls. Superior left the conference after the 2014-15 season.
