Live Stats vs. UW-OskoshTHIS WEEK'S GAMES: Inclement weather on the eastern side of the state last weekend forced the moving of this week's series between UW-Stout (14-9, 4-4 WIAC) and UW-Oshkosh (12-8, 5-5 WIAC) from Oshkosh to Menomonie. The teams will meet Thursday, April 17 at 1 p.m. and Friday, April 18 at 12 p.m. at Nelson Field. But turnabout is fair play. Last year, weather forced the series, originally scheduled for Menomonie, to be played in Oshkosh. The Blue Devils went 3-3 last week, splitting a pair of games with UW-Superior in Mauston, sweeping Maranatha Baptist in the first game at Nelson Field in 706 days and dropping both ends of a doubleheader to St. Thomas. The Titans lost twice to UW-Whtiewater last week, then came back and took two from UW-Platteville over the weekend. The second doubleheader with the Pioneers was washed out.
THE 2014 BLUE DEVILS: UW-Stout opened the season 1-3 before winning seven games in a row on their spring trip. Stout finished up their trip with a 4-4 tie against the Minnesota Twins rookie team. The Blue Devils have opened conference play with a 4-4 record. Stout has surpassed their win total from last season with 16 games remaining on the schedule. |
2014 StatisticsPITCHING STAFF: Brent Mueller has led the way for the Blue Devils on the mound. He has started six times for Stout and has collected a 4-2 record. Opponents are hitting just .248 against him.
Zach Carlson has also started six times for Stout. He has a 4.60 ERA.

Tyler Kinderman and
Hayden Bowe have led the way out of the bullpen. Gullickson has a 3.55 ERA, and opponents are hitting just .234 against him. Kinderman has a 3.68 ERA, and opponents are hitting just .200 against him. Peterson leads the team in appearances with nine and has also collected four saves to lead Stout.
Hayden Bowe is second on the team in appearances out of the bullpen with seven.
HITTING THE BALL: Ryan Freitag currently leads all regular Blue Devil starters with a .400 batting average. Freitag also leads the team in home runs (7), RBI (29), slugging percentage (.771) and walks (24).
Charlie Meyer is second amongst starters in batting average (.387), doubles (8), home runs (3), slugging percentage (.667) and is tied for the team lead with
Brady Burzynski in hits with 29. Stout's .325 team batting average is currently good for third in the conference. Stout is tied for the league lead with Whitewater in doubles with 61. The Blue Devils are currently tops in the conference and in the top ten in the country in sacrifice flies with 28.
UW-OSHKOSH BASEBALL: Oshkosh won their last two games against UW-Platteville. The Titans are hitting .302 as a team. Offensively, Oshkosh is led by Trent Whitcomb who is hitting .370 for the season. Whitcomb also leads the team in slugging percentage at .630. Robbie Kleman leads the team in home runs (4) and RBI (22). Ben Messenger leads the Titans on the mound. He has started four games for the Titans and leads the team with a 1.85 ERA. Joe Pavlovich is 3-1 on the mound for Oshkosh. The Titans have five everyday players that are hitting over .300, led by Trent Whitcomb's .370 (27-73). Whitcomb has a team-best eight doubles and is tied for second in the league with four triples.Whitcomb leads the team in stolen bases with eight. Neil Helbert is hitting .354 (23-65). Tyler Kozlowski and Robbie Kleman are both hitting .338. Kozlowski is 25-of-74 with 20 RBI, while Kleman is 27-of-80 with a team-best 22 RBI. Jake Dostalek is hitting .333 (23-69) with 17 RBI. Ben Messenger, Joe Pavlovich, James Lacy and Travis Sindles have each made four starts. Messenger (1-3) has tossed 24.1 innings, recording a team-best 29 strikeouts with a team best ERA of 1.85. 2014 Titans StatisticsLAST TIME WHEN THEY MET: UW-Oshkosh took three of the four games last year in Oshkosh. The teams split on the first day, with Oshkosh taking 15-1, 7-inning win, but Stout came back for a 7-6 win in the second game.
Santiago Morales had a triple and a home run to help Stout to the win. The Titans captured both games on the second day, 5-2, 16-13.

Gardenhire coached the Blue Devils to a 12-27 record in 2013, a mark the Blue Devils exceeded halfway through this season. In the fall, 2013, Gardenhire played for Germany in the World Baseball Classic.
