Stout takes 3rd straight Florida win, down Ripon; Carroll game postponed

CLERMONT, Fla. (March 17, 2014) - UW-Stout collected their third straight win in Florida and ran wild on the base paths with a 9-1 five inning win over Ripon College Monday at the National Training Center College Games.

The Blue Devils (6-5) scored in all four innings that they batted, opening the game with a four-run that saw Nicole Rogers belt a two-run triple. Taylor Workman (Jr, Prior Lake,Minn) and Hannah Sweet (Sr, Elk River, Minn) also drove in a run.

Lynzi Knudtson (Jr, Melrose) squeezed in a run on a sacrifice bunt in the second and Sam Hastings (Sr, Waukesha) had an inside the part home run.

The Redhawks scored their only run of the game n the third inning, but Stout countered with a single run when Courtney Smith (So, Dassel, Minn) tripled in a run, but got tossed out at home trying to stretch the triple into a home run.

The Blue Devils put the game away with two in the third. Workman drove in a run, then scored the run to  stretch the lead to eight runs on an error.

The Blue Devils were deadly on the bases, collecting five total stolen bases, with Kaitlin Stark (So, Waukesha) recording two.

Caty Schloer (Fr, Lino Lakes, Minn) went the distance in the circle for Stout, getting her first collegiate win, allowing three hits and one earned run. She struck out three and walked none in five innings.

Workman, Rogers, and Sweet all went 2-for-3. Workman and Rogers each had two RBI

The Blue Devils were scheduled to play Carroll University later in the day, but that game was postponed to Wednesday, March 19 at 10 a.m.
