Michelle Theisen (Sr, Marshfield) won two throws event - including leading UW-Stout to a sweep of the weight throw -
Cheyenne Gray (Sr, Gilmanton) again broke her own hurdles record and Larisa Titterud (So, Lino Lakes, Minn) broke a 35 year old record as the Blue Devils competed at the St. Thomas Showcase Friday.
The Blue Devils dominated the top spots in the throws with Theisen leading the way. The senior won the shot put by more than four feet with a mark of 41-feet, 11.25-inches. She topped out on the weight throw with a mark of 50-11.00, finishing ahead of teammates
Lydia Meier (Fr, Middleton), who threw 47-5.75 and
Brooke Loeffler (Jr, Eagan, Minn) who threw 46-4.75 to give Stout the top three spots. Loeffler placed third in the shot put (37-0.50.
Gray continues to push the mark in the 60-meter hurdles. After a second place finish in the preliminaries, Gray cruised to the top spot in the final with a mark of 9.19 second, beating the mark of 9.20 she set two weeks earlier. Gray took a second place finish in the high jump (5-2.25).
Laurisa Titterud won the 400-meter dash in a time of 58.90 seconds. Titterud broke the record of 59.74 set by Elaine Steffens in March of 1979.
Alexa Bitzer (Sr, Eden Prairie, Minn) was third in the 800-meter (2:20.61).
Shelby Solum (Fr, Rice Lske) was fourth in the triple jump (32-10.50).
The Blue Devils will be at the Eastbay Invitational at UW-Stevens Point, Saturday, Feb. 22, in their final tune-up before the WIAC Championship, Feb. 28-March 1 at UW-Whitewater.
