UW-Stout Thanksgiving Turkey Shootout:Â

Live Video THIS WEEK'S GAMES:Â The Blue Devils (1-3, 0-0 WIAC) will be at
Hamline University, (2-2, 0-0 MIAC) Tuesday, Nov. 25, then take a couple of days off for Thanksgiving before hosting the UW-Stout Thanksgiving Turkey Shootout, Nov. 29-30 at Johnson Fieldhouse. The Blue Devils will play
St. Scholastica, (0-1, 0-0 UMAC) Saturday, Nov. 29 at 5 p.m.
Gustavus Adolphus College (3-0, 0-0 MIAC) and the
University of Dubuque (2-1, 0-0 IIAC) will meet in the first game at 1 p.m. The tournament is set up in a championship format. The consolation game will be Sunday, Nov. 30 at 11 a.m. with the championship game at 3 p.m. (St. Scholastica is scheduled to play UW-Superior, Tuesday, Nov. 25.)
WEBCASTS:Â All UW-Stout home games will be available in a live video stream by
Blue Devil Video, with Sam Ripp or Tom Schmelze on the call. WMEQ 880 Radio, with Pete Knutson, Jimmie Kaska or Jake Bostrom, will broadcast and provide a live audio stream of away conference games. Stout will provide
Live Stats for all home games. Check the
Blue Devil Webcast page or under details of the schedule page to see broadcasts and Live Stats available when Stout is on the road. Any WIAC Championship Tournament basketball games will be not be video streamed live.

STOUT THIS SEASON:Â The Blue Devils come into the 2014-15 season with six seniors, the largest group of returning seniors in quite a few years.
Jenna Goldsmith is leading the team in scoring with 12.0 points, but she missed the last game.
Sarah Schoch is avearging 9.0 points after scoring in double figures her first two outings.
Haley Froehlich has come off the bench to average 7.3 points.
Katelynne Folkers and
Brea Boomer are both averaging 7.0 points, with boomer averaging a team-best 6.0 rebounds and Folkers right behind at 5.3 caroms. Stout has been outscored 69.0-61.8. Â |

2014-15 StatisticsSTOUT LAST TIME OUT:Â Stout grabbed their first win last week with a 77-70 win at St. Catherine, Nov. 20. The Blue Devils held off a late charge by the Wildcats to the get the win.

Story and Box ScoreSTOUT LAST SEASON:Â Virtually out of the playoff picture as the season wore down, UW-Stout (11-5, 7-9 WIAC) put together a four-game winning streak to conclude the regular season and earned the fourth seed in the WIAC tournament.

Kyleigh Hebert earned All-WIAC honorable mention honors.
HAMLINE UNIVERSITY: After losing their first two games of the season to UW-Oshkosh (L 86-60) and UW-Eau Claire (L 78-50), the Pipers have won the last two games over North Central University (W 68-56) and the Unversity of Northwestern (W 82-75, ot). Jordan Sammons is averaging 24.5 points and 10.5 rebounds. Sammons led the MIAC last season in scoring and was named the MIAC player of the week after scoring 25 and 24 points, respectively, against North Central and Northwestern, and totaled 30 rebounds. Chelsey Bonsante is tossing in 16.5 points and 4.8 rebounds. Chloe Graves has averaged 9.3 points and is taking 5.3 rebounds, while Alex Peterson is averaging 5.3 boards. The Pipers have been outscored 73.8-5.0. |
Piper StatisticsLAST TIME OUT: The Pipers had three players score in double digits with Chelsey Bonsante leading the way with 31 points. Jordan Sammons had a monster game with 24 points, six assists and 20 rebounds and Chloe Graves had 17 points with seven assists. Northwestern led for a good portion of the game until Hamline took a 66-62 lead with 3:44 left in regulation. The Eagles knotted the score at 66 to send it to overtime where neither team held more than a two-point lead before Hamline broke out in the end. |Â
Northwestern Story and StatsLAST TIME STOUT AND HAMLINE MET:Â
Katelynne Folkers scored 13 of her team-high 16 points in the first half to bring UW-Stout back from a 10-point deficit and the Blue Devils eventually went on for the 62-56 win over Hamline University in the consolation game of the Wisconsin Lutheran Tournament Nov. 17, 2012. Sparked by nine second half points by senior Whitney Rawdon, the Blue Devils took the lead, 54-52, with 4:19 remaining in the game and Stout never trailed again, although the Pipers did twice tie the game.
Brea Boomer dropped in a pair of free throws with 24 seconds left to give Stout a four-point, 60-56 lead and Kayla Windt drained two chartiy shots with 11 seconds remaining to seal the win. |

TRADITION: In 10 of the last 15 seasons, Stout has been either the first or second leading scoring team in the WIAC. In the final team standings, Stout has finished no lower in the conference than fourth in 12 of the last 15 years.

THE COACHES: UW-Stout: Mark Thomas (444-278) is in his 28th year as the coach of the Blue Devils. Thomas has led his teams to 10 national playoff berths, nine times in the NCAA. A six-time WIAC coach of the year, the Blue Devils have won five conference titles and four conference tournament championships. His teams have twice been to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament. Thomas is the first WIAC coach to have reached 400 career wins. Thomas also has the most wins of any Stout basketball coach, either men's or women's. Dwain Mintz coached the men's basketball program for 27 years and compiled a 385-280 record. Â
Hamline University: Kerri Stockwell enters her fifth season at the helm of the women's basketball program in 2014-15, following a successful stint as the head assistant coach with Concordia University-St. Paul. Stockwell also serves as Hamline's senior woman administrator.
THE ROAD TO 400 WINS:
Mark Thomas' first collegiate win came the second game of his first season when his Blue Devils, which had won only two games over the previous two years, defeated Mt. Senario, 73-44, in November, 1987. The wins came more often after that. Thomas got his 50th win, Feb. 28, 1991, 71-60, over Cardinal Stritch. The 100th win came Jan. 10, 1994, an 80-59 win over UM-Morris. No. 200 came at UW-River Falls, a 78-74 victory on Jan. 5, 2000. Thomas' 300th win came in overtime, a 76-68 decision over UW-Stevens Point, Jan. 29, 2005. Thomas' 400th win came at UW-Stevens Point, a 90-76 decision, Feb. 3, 2010.
CONFERENCES: UW-Stout is a member of the nine-team Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) along with UW-Eau Claire. UW-Oshkosh, UW-La Crosse, UW-Stevens Point, UW- Platteville, UW-River Falls, UW-Superior, and UW-Whitewater. Superior will be leaving the WIAC after this season.
