Live Stats | Live Video/Audio

THIS WEEK'S GAMES: UW-Stout (19-9, 7-5 WIAC) will host UW-Superior (13-16, 4-8 WIAC) Saturday, April 27 at noon, and then will host UW-Oshkosh, Sunday, April 28 at 1 p.m. The Superior game was scheduled to be in Superior, but the winter that seems to finally be leaving, has kept the Yellowjackets' field under a blanket of snow, which is just starting to lift.  The Oshkosh game was scheduled for last Sunday, April 21, but inclement weather forced the postponement. A decision will be made Saturday morning whether the game will be played in Williams Stadium or at Alumni Field.Stout is scheduled to close out the regular season, Tuesday, April 30 at Hamline. This season, Stout has had to cancel non-conference games with Northwestern College, Carleton College and Gustavus Adolphus College. Superior defeated UW-La Crosse in a pair of games Friday at Williams Stadium.

THE BLUE DEVILS: The Blue Devils have been delivering the home run ball this season, and especially on artificial field surfaces. Stout has played their last eight games at Williams Stadium and have averaged one home run per game over the last eight games. Count the four the Blue Devils hit at Pioneer Stadium in Platteville two weeks ago, three against Macalester in the West St. Paul Dome, five against St. Olaf in the Irish Dome, plus two in the opener against Luther College in the Rochester Dome, and that adds up to 27 of the teams' 31 home runs this year have been on artificial grass.  Alison Gray has eight home runs and Sam Hastings has seven. Taylor Workman has five. Hannah Sweet has four, including a grand slam against Eau Claire, and Erin Moss has three. The Workman sisters - Taylor and Tori - are leading Stout at the plate. Taylor is hitting .428 (28-64), matching Hastings with a team-high 28 RBI, and Tori is hitting .418 (23-55). Moss is hitting .394 (37-94) and is 12-14 in stolen bases. Gray is hitting .385 (35-91) with 27 RBi and Hastings is hitting .340 (34-100). Tori Workman and Laura Vanderhoof have been the main players in the pitching circle, with Workman getting 107 innings, with a team-high 60 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.94 and a record of 12-6. Vanderhoot hs 38 strikeouts with an ERA of 3.52 and a record of 7-2..  | 2013 Statistics

BLUE DEVILS LAST TIME OUT: Nicole Rogers hit a two-run pinch hit home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Blue Devils to a 5-3 win over UW-Eau Claire Thursday. The Blugolds earned the split with a three-run home run in the top of the 10th inning of game two, a 12-9, three-plus hour marathon.

UW-SUPERIOR: UW-Superior (13-16, 4-8 WIAC) are a young team and have 12 freshman on this year's roster - the largest group of newcomers for Head Coach Roger Plachta. But that young group of freshmen and wily group of returners are starting to make a late season run and have won their last four conference games. UW-Superior welcomes back senior Ashley Martin, who returns after missing all of 2012 with an injury.  In 2011, she led the team with a .444 batting average, .661 slugging percentage, .462 on-base percentage, 55 hits, 10 doubles and seven triples. Martin is currently leading the team with an average of .403 (27-67). Lindsay Garay has a team-high 17 RBI, while Elle Niemela has 15. Amanda LeBard and Nicolle Gross are the only pitchers the 'Jackets have thrown this year and both have recorded 51 strikeouts.  LeBard has tosed 68. 2 innings and has an ERA of 2.75, while Gross has thrown 113 innings and has an ERA of 3.59.  The Yellowjackets have played all of their games on the road, playing eight games in Platteville, 12 games in Fort Myers, Fla., two games in Menomonie and five games in Marquette, Mich. The Yellowjackets are scheduled  to be at UW-River Falls, Sunday, April 28 to wrap up the regular season.  | 2013 Statistics

The Yellowjackets took a 7-4 opening game win, then blanked the Eagles, 3-0, in the second game. In the opener, Ashley Martin, Elle Niemela and Lindsay Garay recorded home runs. In the second game, Amanda LeBard scattered seven hits, had five strikeouts and only once allowed more than runner on base in a single inning, and in that inning she was on the first end of a double play to get out of the inning.

LAST TIME THEY MET: The Blue Devils and Superior split when the teams met last April 17 in Menomonie, with the Yellowjackets taking a five-inning affair, 11-0, before Stout came back with a 5-4, 11-inning win when Jessica Nicol slashed a double to score Hannah Sweet to end the marathon.

UW-OSHKOSH: UW-Oshkosh returns five players who started at least 31 games last year, including junior Tess Fadness, who has started all 80 games of her career.  Sophomore Katie Koepsel led the squad with a .370 batting average and nine home runs, while topping the conference with a .739 slugging percentage.  Senior Courtney Wautier has appeared in 86 games over the past three years, compiling a 33-26 record and 4.00 ERA with 289 strikeouts over 387 innings.  During the 2012 campaign, UW-Oshkosh belted 32 home runs, while its pitchers gave up 11.

In the opener, Oshkosh scored two runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to take a 4-3 win. Trailing 5-1 heading into the fifth, Courtney Richardson got things going with a lead-off single and, following a fly out, the flood gates opened for Stout as consecutive singles up the middle by Hannah Sweet, Taylor Workman and Sam Hastings drove in runs.Stout continued to load the bases and Jessica Behnke  drew a walk to bring in a run. Pinch hitter Lynzi Knudtson drove in a run and Erin Moss (Jr, Munster, Ind) and Alison Gray each drove in two runs to conclude the scoring and Stout led 10-5. Laura Vanderhoof, who entered the game in the third inning trailing 5-0, scattered three hits throughout her 4.2 innings of shutout ball, striking out two and walking one to record the win.
