MENOMONIE (April 20, 2013) - UW-Stout was unable get much offense going in either game and lost a pair of conference games to UW-Whitewater, 5-0, 22-3, Saturday at Don and Nona Williams Stadium.

The Blue Devils (18-8, 6-4 WIAC) maganed only one hit in the opener and only got three runners on base.

Whitewater (22-3, 5-2 WIAC) struck right away, getting two runs in the top of the first when Emily Epifanio dbouled in a pair of runs. Whitewater doubled the score in the second inning whem Amanda Mertes and Epifanio drove in runs.

Tori Workman (Fr, Prior Lake, Minn) came on in relief in the second inning, allowed Epifanio's RBI single, but virtually shutdown the Warhawks down the rest of the way, scattering five total hits and only one unearned run, that coming in the sixth inning. Workman finished with eight strikeouts, including the last six Warhawks of the game. The eight strikeouts is Workman's single game high this season.

Warhawk pitcher Katie Boyle upstaged Workman, going the distance, tossing a one-hitter and striking out five.

As sharp as Workman was in the first game, she could not carry that magic over to the second game. Getting the start, Workman gave up nine hits, and eight runs before bowing out in the third inning. She would return to finish the game as Stout used five pitchers, with each giving up at least two runs.

The Warhawks bombed Stout and three times sent more than nine batters to the plate in a single inning. Whitewater laced four home runs and Jo Jablonski had three doubles alone. Whitewater smashed 23 hits and scored nine runs in the third, six in the fourth and five in the fifth.

Stout scratched out three runs in the five inning contest that lasted more than two hours, getting single runs in the second, third and fourth innings. Stout was held to three hits.

Stout is scheduled to host UW-Oshkosh, Sunday, April 21 at 2 p.m.
