OSHKOSH (April 15, 2013) - UW-Stout proved to have some pop in their bat as they made a mad dash of matching UW-Oshkosh hit-for-hit in the final game of the series, but the Blue Devils still lost both sides of a doubleheader to the Titans, 5-2, 16-13, Monday at Tiedemann Field.

In the extremely offensive nightcap, both the Blue Devils (7-12, 1-3 WIAC) and the 21st ranked Titans (15-4, 4-3 WIAC) each rapped out 18 hits and combined for the 29 runs. The teams also combined for nine errors, six for Oshkosh, three for Stout, and 26 runners left on base. Stout had seven pitchers in the contest, while Oshkosh sent four to the hill.

Oshkosh took a 10-4 lead after three innings, but Stout pulled to within 13-11 after six innings. Oshkosh scored two runs in the eighth and one in the ninth, while Stout had one run in each of the last two innings. The Blue Devils left the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth.

The game was originally intended to be played in Menomonie, but a blanket of snow still covers most of Nelson Field.

Tyler Kamps was 4-for-6 for the Titans with six RBI in the contest. Michael Polcyn was 4-for-4, reaching base in all seven trips to plate, scoring five times.

Mitch LaVelle (Fr, Chippewa Falls) and Charlie Meyer (So, Janesville) each batted 3-for-6 for Stout. Meyer had a two-run home run in the first inning. Colin Pechacek (So, River Falls) was 3-for-5 and two RBI with a pair of doubles.

In the opener, Stout was held scoreless until the bottom of the ninth when Kasey Kruse (So, Boyceville) singled in a pair of runs.

Carter Vogt (Sr, Buffalo, Minn) ptiched 7.1 innings Stout and the Titans didn't get to him until they scored on a sacrifice fly by Zac Peterson in the fourth inning. Vogt got touched for a two-run home run by Robbie Klemen in the eighth. Vogt struck out four and walked on in the loss.

Bobby Kachel was 3-for-3 to lead the Titans at the plate and Doug Beattie was 2-for-3. Kruse was 2-for-4 for Stout. Oshkosh finished with nine hits and Stout tallied eight.  Oshkosh left nine runners on base, Stout five.
