MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (March 4, 2013) - Brad Kohn (Sr, St. Charles, Minn.) pitched a complete game without allowing an earned run as UW-Stout grabbed their first win of the season, a 6-1 decision over Hamline University, Monday night at Mall of America Field at the HHH Metrodome. Santiago Morales (Sr, West St. Paul, Minn.) provided the heroics in the second game with a three-RBI walkoff double with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Kohn allowed five hits and struck out four batters in his seven innings of work. It was Kohn's second straight appearance allowing no earned runs, a combined 11 innings between the two outings.

After three scoreless innings, Stout got to work in the top of the fourth. Mitch LaVelle (Fr, Chippewa Falls) and Morales started the inning with back-to-back singles, and were promptly driven in by Charlie Meyer (So, Janesville) and Matt Guida (Sr, Hawley, Minn.).

The Blue Devils started the fifth inning exactly like the fourth, with leadoff singles by Colin Pechacek (So, River Falls) and Jake Lunow (So, Princeton). LaVelle and Morales, who scored the runs an inning earlier, provided the RBI's this time, driving in Pechacek and Lunow to give Stout a 4-0 lead.

Triples by Chris Sill (Sr, Wabasha, Minn.) and Pechacek produced a run in the top of the sixth and an RBI single by Meyer in the seventh made it the final score of 6-1. Hamline's only run came when Harley Thompson scored on a passed ball after he doubled earlier in the inning.

In the second game, Hamline got on the board first with two runs in the top of the fourth inning, but Stout responded quickly, matching that total in the bottom of the inning. Meyer was driven in with a double by Guida, who was later driven in by Vavra.

Hamline grabbed the lead back in the top of the fifth, scoring runs on a wild pitch and an RBI double by Jordan Buck.

Stout's seventh-inning rally started with a Pechacek walk, and Jackson Hallahan (Jr, Lester Prairie, Minn.) and LaVelle followed with singles. The double by Morales drove in all three for the win.

Starter Cody Loertscher (Jr, Rib Lake)  pitched three innings of no-hit ball, striking out three Pipers.

Stout will return to the Metrodome next Tuesday, Mar. 12 to face Augsburg College for a doubleheader starting at 9:15 p.m.
