Box Score UW-Oshkosh 45, UW-Stout 36
OSHKOSH (January 12, 2013) - UW-Stout came out on the short end of one of the lower scoring contests in recent history, falling 45-36 to UW-Oshkosh, Saturday at Kolf Sports Center.
The Blue Devils(8-8, 2-5 WIAC) led 16-13 at halftime, but the Titans (13-3, 5-2 WIAC) outscored Stout 32-20 in the second half to notch the win. The Titans tied the score a minute into the second period, but the teams traded leads for the next nine minutes until Oshkosh took the lead for good with nine minutes left in the contest.
Stout got as close to one point several times, the final time when
Shelby Sterba (So, Ladysmith) score at 4:57 to make the score 35-34. Oshkosh scored the next six points and the Blue Devils never got closer than five points.
The Titans' Megan Wenig was the only player to score in double digits, scoring 13. Katelyn Kuehl had 12 rebounds for the Titans.
Stout was led by
Brea Boomer (So, Grand Portage, Minn) and
Kyleigh Hebert (Fr, Spencer) with nine points apiece. Sterba finished with six rebounds.
Neither team shot particularly well from the floor. Oshkosh shot 33.3 percent (16-48) from the floor, while Stout shot 29.2 percent (14-48).
Stout will be at UW-La Crosse, Wednesday, Jan. 16 and at UW-Whitewater, Saturday Jan. 19.
