THIS WEEK BY THE NUMBERS
.420 Stout is 6-0 when their field goal percentage is better than .420 (2-7 in games where it is .420 or lower).
7-0 Stout's record this year with a positive rebound margin.
1-7 Stout's record this year with a negative rebound margin.
.677 Brea Boomer's shooting percentage over the last three games (21-of-31), twice scoring career-high 22 points.
THE BLUE DEVILS (8-7, 2-4 WIAC): UW-Stout's 31-point surrender to Stevens Point on Wednesday marked their largest defeat since the first game of the season, when they lost by 40 to DePauw. The most obvious root of their problems, Wednesday, was their shooting percentages, especially their performance from beyond the arc. Stout shot just 30 percent from the field (20-of-65) and only connected on two of their 21 three point attempts (.095). Meanwhile, Stevens Point could hardly miss a shot, making nearly 60 percent of their shots for the game, and over 64 percent in the second half. Although it is no longer a perfect indication of success, Stout's rebounding margin has played a huge role in their ability to win games or not. They are 7-0 with a positive margin, and they dropped to 1-7 with a negative margin after being out-rebounded, 43-31, against Stevens Point...Brea Boomer is riding a hot streak lately that features two 22-point games in the past three, both of which tie for her collegiate scoring high. Over the last three games, Boomer is shooting .677 from the floor (21-of-31), which has upped her season average to .590, the best shooting percentage in the WIAC. Her scoring average of 12.4 puts her inside the top 10 in the conference and trails only Whitney Rawdon on Stout's roster. Rawdon has slowed down lately after a very good December, but continues to lead the team in scoring and rebounding. Her 13.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game rank her eighth and sixth in the conference, respectively. Sami Schoeder had a quiet night against Stevens Point, but had scored 16, 17, and 19 points in the three games leading up to Point. Over that three-game stretch, she was 13-for-25 (.520) from beyond the arc after starting the first 11 games of the season, 27-of-52 (.327). Schoeder was 0-for-4 against Stevens Point, but has proved to be a dangerous three-point weapon if she gets on a roll. Katelynne Folkers continues her consistent production across the entire stat sheet. She leads the team in both steals (41) and assists (37), is second in rebounds (5.4 per game), third in blocks (4), and fourth in scoring (9.5 per game). | 2012-13 Statistics

STOUT'S LAST TIME OUT: Brea Boomer matched a career-high when she scored 22 points, but she was outdone by UW-Stevens Point's Sam Barber, who led the 15th ranked Pointers to an 88-57 win over UW-Stout Wednesday at Johnson Fieldhouse. Boomer did her best to bring the Blue Devils back, scoring 16 of her 22 points in the second half. For the game, she shot 8-13 from the field and 6-9 from the charity stripe. Barber finished the night with 33 points and scored 20 points in the first half, leading the Pointers to a 41-28 lead. Barber scored six points, hitting a pair of three-pointers, in an early 8-0 run that gave Stevens Point a 15-6 lead five minutes into the game. The Pointers jumped out to a 19-8 lead  before Stout cut the lead to six points on a layup by Boomer and a three-pointer by Kyleigh Hebert to cut the lead to 19-13. The Pointers went on a 7-0 run to go up 26-13 and Stout got the lead under 10 points only once during the rest of the game. Stevens Point was hot from the floor all night, shooting 55.6 percent (15-27) in the first half from the floor, including 4-9 from downtown, all by Barber. They continued their hot shooting in the second half, putting in 16-25 shots from the field, good for a 64 percent shooting percentage. Stout was unable to overcome a poor shooting night, hitting only 30.8 percent (20-65) of their shots for the game and going just 2-21 from beyond the arc. The Blue Devils were also out rebounded on the night, 43-31, dropping them to 1-8 on the year in games when their opponents grab more rebounds. | Story and Stats

PLAYERS TO WATCH

#11 - Whitney Rawdon, F, 5-11 13.2 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 14 blocks, all team highs
UW-Oshkosh

SCOUTING UW-OSHKOSH (12-3, 4-2 WIAC): Much of Oshkosh's early success is due to their rebounding success and their solid defense. Their rebounding margin of +8.1 is second best in the conference while they rank first in scoring defense, allowing just 50.3 points per game. Conversely, Stout ranks last in scoring defense, allowing 69.5 points per game. Mirroring that trend, Oshkosh leads the WIAC in free throw percentage (76.6), while Stout is hitting a WIAC-low 61.6 percent of their shots from the stripe. Oshkosh began December with back-to-back losses and their only other defeat came in their most recent game, a 52-46 decision at Eau Claire. Megan Wenig and Katie Kitzke have provided much of the scoring for the Titans, averagaing 13.8 and 11.9 points per game, respectively. One of the two has led Oshkosh in scoring in 13 of the team's 15 games, including each of the last nine contests. Kitzke has two separate games of 25 points while Wenig has delivered five game with 18 or more points. Both of them shoot a lot of three-pointers, but Wenig's 40 percent clip is a lot scarier for the Blue Devils than Kitzke's .270 average. Heather Conroy and Katelyn Kueuhl are averaging 6.5 and 6.4 rebounds per game, respectively, ranking them fifth and seventh in the conference in that category. Kueuhl adds 7.6 points per game while Conroy contirbutes 7.3 per contest. | 2012-13 Statistics

UW-OSHKOSH'S LAST TIME OUT: Oshkosh was dealth just their third loss of the season, Wednesday, a 52-46 loss to UW-Eau Claire at Zorn Arena. The Titans held as much as a six-point lead in the first half, but a 14-2 run gave Eau Claire a six-point lead of their own. The Blugolds turned in a 24-21 halftime lead in the low-scoring affair. Oshkosh worked their way back to a 33-32 lead midway through the second half, but an 8-0 run by Eau Claire gave them a seven-point lead. Oshkosh worked that down to one point, but could not get a tie or a lead the rest of the game. Sarah Bingea led all players with 22 points, while Megan Wenig scored 20 for the Titans. | Story and Stats

THE SERIES: UW-Oshkosh leads the series, 43-20, overall, but has not been as dominant lately. Oshkosh has won the first meeting in each of the past three seasons, but Stout has answered with victories in the second meeting all three seasons. Stout has won 11 of the past 14 matchups, including a stretch of nine in a row from 2006 to 2010.

LAST TIME THEY MET (Feb. 18, 2012):
Freshmen Shelby Sterba and Katelynne Folkers delivered from the free throw line down the stretch when it counted most as UW-Stout closed out their 2011-12 campaign with a 65-60 win at UW-Oshkosh. Sterba broke a 60-60 tie with 59 seconds remaining in the game by sinking a pair of free throws to give Stout a tenuous lead. Folkers connected on 3-of-4 in the final nine seconds of the game to seal the win. But it was the veteran Whitney Rawdon who played a key hand in assuring the win. With Stout up 64-60, Rawdon blocked a shot with three seconds remaining. The rebound fell into Folkers' hands, and she was instantly fouled. The Blue Devils needed to fight back more than once in the game. Oshkosh (7-18, 1-15 WIAC) opened the contest by making 10 of its first 13 shots from the field to build a 23-14 lead. Stout rallied and tied the score at 7:09 in the first half when Bethany Reyzer scored a four-point play to knot the score at 26. Stout held a 37-34 halftime lead, then led through much of the second half until the Titans tied the score at 55-55 with 4:50 remaining, then held a lead no bigger than three points until Rawdon hit a jumper to give Stout a 60-59 lead. The Titans tied the game on a free throw at 1:52, but were denied anymore points the rest of the way. Reyzer led Stout with 12 points, while Folkers finished with 11 points and a team-high six rebounds. | Story and Stats
