Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 UW-Oshkosh 15, UW-Stout 0 | UW-Oshkosh 4, UW-Stout 2

OSHKOSH (April 21, 2012) - After being shutout for the first time this season, UW-Stout came back in the second but could not secure the win as UW-Oshkosh swept the first day, 15-0, 4-2, Saturday.

UW-Oshkosh scored in five of the six innings they came up to bat in a 15-0, seven inning win opener.

The Titans pounded out 16 hits and the Blue Devils committed four errors in the game called because of the 10-run rule. Oshkosh score four runs in the first inning, one in the second, three in the third, six in the fourth and one in the sixth inning.

The first three hitters in the line-up, Jake Duske (Sr, Montrose, Minn), Ryan Gangestad (Fr, Maple Grove, Minn) and Matt Guida (Jr, Hawley, Minn) each had a single hit to account for Stout's three hits. Stout used six pitchers, none of them pitching more than 1.1 innings. Stout did not get a runner past second base and this was the first time Stout was shutout the entire year.

Of the 16 hits, only four were extra base hits. Shortstop Michael Polcyn led the Titans, going 3-for-4 with four runs scored and two RBI.

In the second game, the Titans' Jake Dostelek gave Oshkosh a 2-0 lead with a two run single.

Stout came back to tie the game with two runs in the fourth inning, working their scoring opportunities to left field. Guida hit a two-out single to left, then came home on Jon Schoch's (Sr, Chippewa Falls) double to the left side.  Schoch came home on Charlie Meyer's (Fr, Janesville) single.

The Titans took the game with RBIs by Brock Guetzke and Alex Mullendorf in the fifth inning.

Schoch and Meyer each had two hits apiece for Stout and Guetzke and Dostelek had two hits apiece for Oshkosh. Each team had eight hits.

Carter Vogt (Jr, Buffalo, Minn) took the second game loss for Stout, striking out five, allowing four runs, but only two earned. Stout committed three errors in the contest.

The teams will meet again on Sunday, April 22.
