MENOMONIE, Wis. (April 18, 2012) - Jon Schoch (Sr, Chippewa Falls) hit three home runs in three consecutive at-bats, Wednesday afternoon at Nelson Field, as he led the Blue Devils to a pair of wins over non-conference foe, Bethel University.

In the first game, after Bethel (15-13) tied the game at four apiece in the top of the sixth, Schoch hit his sixth homer of the season to give Stout (15-13) the lead for good.  Jake Duske (Sr, Montrose, Minn.) added a three-run jack to round out the game's scoring.

Santiago Morales (Jr, West St. Paul, Minn.) started the game with his first of two doubles on the evening.  Ryan Gangestad (Fr, Maple Grove, Minn.) and Matt Guida (Jr, Hawley) followed directly with back-to-back doubles, each driving in a run.  Ben Yaucher (Jr, Janesville) scored Guida on a sacrifice fly to give his team a 3-0 lead.

Morales added an RBI double in the second inning before leaving the game with an injury.  He was unable to return and sat out the second game of the doubleheader.

The Royals clawed back in the game and Jesse Nickols knotted the game with an RBI single in the sixth, setting the stage for Schoch.

John Ewald (So, Maplewood, Minn.) allowed the game-tying Bethel run, but picked up the win in the bottom half of the inning, moving him to 1-1 on the season.  In two innings of work, Ewald allowed two hits, one run, one walk, and struck out two.  Bethel's Matt Pearson went the full six innings, but allowed eight runs on ten hits and absorbed his first loss of the season.

In the second contest, Schoch picked up where he left off as he hit a towering shot well over the left field wall in his first at-bat of the game.  Following a one-run third inning for Bethel, which gave the Royals a 2-1 lead, the Blue Devils answered the call with a four-run bottom half.

Duske started the action with a double down the left field line, and was drove in by Colin Pechacek (Fr, River Falls) on the following at-bat.  Guida added an RBI single, and was drove in by Schoch when he launched the first pitch he saw deep into the trees lining the center field wall.

Fellow seniors Schoch and Duske continue to lead the team in run production.  Duske has now crossed the plate a team-high 30 times this season.  He also added his 25th RBI and seventh home run of the year, trailing only Schoch in both categories (27 RBI, 8 HR).

Andrew Driessen (Jr, Champlin Park, Minn.) picked up the win for the Blue Devils as he pitched two innings of shutout ball, allowing just two hits.

Matt Rowley and Nickols led the offensive attack for the Royals.  Rowley was 3-for-6 with two homers and three RBI's, while Nickols batted 4-for-6, driving in two, including a home run.

Stout will travel to UW-Oshkosh this weekend, scheduled to play a doubleheader both Saturday and Sunday, April 21 and 22.  Both teams will head into the four-game series 5-9 in conference play.
