Box Score UW-Platteville 70, UW-Stout 65
PLATTEVILLE (December 8, 2012) - UW-Platteville took advantage at the free throw line in the second half and went on to defeate UW-Stout, 70-65, Saturday.
The Pioneers (3-6, 1-2 WIAC) made 20-of-26 second half free throws to overcome a 26-23 halftime deficit. Platteville connected on only 1-of-7 first half charity shots.
The Blue Devils (5-4, 1-2 WIAC) led through the entire first half and did not give up the lead until five minutes into the second half. The game was tied nine times in the second half until Platteville took the lead with 8:49 left in the game.
The Pioneers' Liz Lawinger led all scorers with 22 points. Kaitlyn Pleau came off the bench to add 14 points.
Stout got 20 points from
Sami Schoeder (Jr, Durand) and 11 points from both
Brea Boomer (So, Grand Portage, Minn) and
Katelynne Folkers (So, Fall Creek).
Stout shot 30.5 percent from the floor (18-59), 22.8 percent from three-point range (5-22) and 70.6 percent from the line (24-34). The Pioneers shot 50 percent from the floor (23-46), 30 percent from beyond the arc (3-10) and 63.6 percent from the line (21-33).
Stout will be at UW-River Falls, Wednesday, Dec. 12 and at Marian University, Saturday, Dec. 15.
