Blue Devils go undefeated at own tournament, down Martin Luther, 80-60

MENOMONIE (November 25, 2012) - Brea Boomer (So, Grand Portage, Minn) scored a career-high 20 points and UW-Stout never trailed from the opening tipoff as the Blue Devils defeated Martin Luther College, 80-60, in the Quality Inn and Suites Turkey Shootout Sunday at Johnson Fieldhouse.

Boomer tallied nine points in the first half - six points in the first eight minutes - as Stout (3-2) ran off to a 41-25 halftime lead. The Blue Devils were aided in the first half by 16 points off the bench, compared to only five for Martin Luther (0-3).

The Blue Devils' full court pressure also caused havoc for the Knights, which turned the ball over 16 times in the first half and 25 times for the game.

Whitney Rawdon (Sr, Eau Claire) scored 15 points for Stout, while Rachel Hanley (So, Minong) came off the bench to finish with a career-best 12 points. Rawdon dished off a career-best five assists.

Brittney Gossen led Martin Luther with 20 points. Hannah Hackbarth finished with 15 and Alex Anthon had 10 points.

The Blue Devils won both games of the weekend tournament, defeating St. Scholastica Saturday. Stout will be at Crown College, Wednesday, Nov. 28 before returning home to host UW-Whitewater, Saturday, Dec. 1 at 6 p.m. in the conference opener.
