RIVER FALLS (January 13, 2012) - UW-River Falls scored two goals in the third period to break a 2-2 tie on their way to a 4-3 win over UW-Stout Friday at Hunt Arena.

After allowing two second period goals, Falcon goalie Scott Lewan stopped just about everything the Blue Devils (6-9-1, 2-6-1 NCHA) could throw at him in the final stanza.  Lewan made 12 third period saves and the only goal he allowed in the final stanza was with nine-tenths of a second remaining on the clock to make it a one goal game.

The fourth ranked Falcons (12-2-2, 6-1-2 NCHA) broke the tie three minutes into the third period on a goal by Andy Inderleden, scored on a 5-on-3 with 40 seconds left in regulation.

With one Blue Devil still in the penalty box, Jordan Treddinnick (Fr, Onalaska) scored his second goal of the game just before the horn sounded.

River Falls opened up the scoring early when Geoff Shwemake scored only four minutes into the game. The Falcons doubled the score 10 minutes later when Jeff Burke scored.

The Blue Devils tied the score with a pair of second period goals. Treddinnick wasted no time getting on the board in the second, taking passes from Mike Hartviksen (So, Thunder Bay, Ont) and Branden Gay (Sr, Calgary, Alberta).  Garrett Grimstad (Jr, Rochester, Minn) in a flurry of shots, picking up the loose change from Sam Carr (Jr, Roseau, Minn) and Kevin O'Donnell (So, Stoughton).

The Blue Devils pelted the net in the second period, putting 18 shots on net in the period, the third most shots on net in a single period this season. Lewan finished the game with 41 total saves, while Stout's Tom Lescovich (Jr, Clifton Park, NY) had 23 saves.

The Blue Devils and the Falcons will meet again Saturday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m.
